Hello all.

I have a site under construction and need advise on the look of the site. I’m paying developers to do it and it looks a little rough. If you have some art skill and can help with the home page and how it should look plz plz post.

If it’s a questions answer type of website, you could always start of using one of the free forums. Available on the net and addapting it to your own needs.

The people working on the site are Pros. I’m paying a large amount of money to do so.But they seem to lack in the art of what I want for a front page. These guys work for Oracle so I know they know what to do on the back end. I want the front page to be unique from all other sites.
Thanks

I did do quite a bit of research when designing my websites, colours matter a lot. The background colours :- white although used a lot is bad for people with eyesight problems. Light blue and peach type colours turn out to be better options. Blue atracts males, the peach colours females.

The colour of the letters also matters, red and green dont go well with people who suffer colour blindness. Black is the best choice in this respect.

The layout :- Gentle curves where possible are kinder and used cleverly, can draw or send the eye of your user to the most important part of your website.

This link should help you to see the effect of curves on a web site, as well as using the wasted space of you website. I think that the colours they use are awfull. http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/index.aspx

It is a medical website. You will find you are able to use a lot of the information on it. To give your own website a boost.

I understand the difficulties of getting it right.

If you find the W3C website I think they will help you to make you website friendly to people with dissabilities and illnes.

I am hoping that this will be of some help to you.

Were you still looking for any help? I can’t promise anything but I may be able to give you some pointers and graphic design opinions that could steer you toward success. I was getting my degree in that before I was waylaid but feel so scatter-brained I’m not up to a full commitment to anything but some advice or suggestions I could definately do… I think… lol
