Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
I have Comodo. It’s the best firewall I’ve used so far; free or non-free.
I also use Avast! and AVG.
Avast! (anti-virus), AVG (anti-spyware), both also free.
Have you tried the other free stuff from comodo?
I to have AVG and Avast.
Also CCleaner.

I am going to downlaod this. I have let too many people close to my computers.
Thanks nikko.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
The slower your connection is, the less chance of getting hacked/viruses because it takes too long for them to get into your system :P Thus I have absolutely no protection but I’ve been doing fine for a very long time. I still follow safe online practices though.
I am glad you have had no problems.
It’s the first time I have heared that a slow connection can stop this from happening. I have a very fast connection though.
Yeah back a few years I had blazing connection and because I - then too - went commando with no software or firewalls, I had to reformat my computer every few days haha. But seriously I am using nothing and I have Ultra-Lite Highspeed which is maybe 2x dial up, and I’ve never had a single virus or hacker or whatnot. I don’t use P2P things though - just Bit Torrents [which I guess is P2P lol]
Yeah, from Comodo I’ve used BoClean, but didn’t really look at it too deeply.
Do you think it a good idea, to keep reminding people about security on the internet?
Yes Anthrax.
That is why I took a lot of time trying to find the best I could. That is not agggressive and is helpful in it’s use.
Have you turned off windows firewall?
Also your anti virus until comodo is installed.
It installed for me with no problems.
I think it a worthwhile program to have on your computer. So keep trying, Get in touch with them to help you.
I just remembered you need to download the right one, you probably need the 64 bit version.
Good idea, let me know what you come up with, please.
I have that and agree it’s not as good as it used to be. As yet I haven’t found anything better to replace it.
I still think it important to stop stuff from being sent from a computer without the person knowing that it is happening, hence a good firewall is essential.
I have tried Spybot but not the new version, I found it was a bit agressive. So I will stay clear of it.
Thanks I will take a look myself. I need to leave for a while, will check back later. thanks for your time.

I think most people need all the help they can get.
Thanks Bleucat.
I’m going to put another post up, to try and lighten up the site for a while.
I have the slightest clue what internet abuse is
Type internet abuse into your search bar, then look at some of the sites that come up. There are many types of internet abuse.
lol, sounds entertaining but i don’t care that much to look it up
thanks anyway
It’s nice to know you have some protection and a little peace of mind about having the protection.
You particularly need to do something about your internet security.
I’m not to pleased with you at the moment, I might get back to you about it later with a shout.
I will check it out after I leave here. It’s nice to know there is another good one out there.
My step son and my niece likes to go to MY Space which gave my mom and me a virus on both of our computers. Not sure of my parents computer but we had Norton Virus protection.
I don’t won’t to ban them from using the computer but i will if i have too.
Do u think the Comodo, Avast and AVG would be better to do then the Norton?
Yes 27ladyg.
Norton is not as good as a lot of other programs out there. Windows firewall is next to useless. You can try the new ones out and if you dont like them, revert back to what you are familiar with.

I can’t control that someone stole my name…
a Suc fermata.
Forgive me if I upset you. That was not the intention. The intention is that I get as many people, including you. To start thinking seriously about their secerity when online.

I do though, I have AVG and Ad-Aware to like ping stuff from my computer
Do you have a good firewall as well?
thep wrote:

AVG is a firewall also
Thats fine then. To get a firewall with AVG you are using the paid for version. The free version is just anti virus and e-mail checker.
I have enough to cope with, googling my own nicknames.

no I’m using the free version…
But when I get a virus it goes BING
I still don’t understand, I didn’t find anything for my nickname.
Stop worrying about that for the moment. Calm down if you can. I will try to walk you through it sometime over the next few days. If that’s ok with you.

lil_bit_shy.
I will try to explain a little bit more.
CCleaner :- Download it, install it. Let it run on your computer.
What it does :- Cleans the cookies from your browser, cleans your computer of other un-needed files. When you delete files with windows it does not actually delete the files, it just marks that space on your hard disc,to be over written, this takes up space on your hard disc and can leave pottentualy harmful programes on your computer. CCleaner actually wipes them from your computer.
Firewall :- Windows firewall, completely useless. A good firewall will scan every file that tries to insert itself on your computer. It will advise you if the file is contaminated with a virus etc. It will advise you what actions you should take, like allow this file, block this file, etc.
It also tells you if a program on your computer is trying to send information from your computer, to somewhere or some-one on the internet. This is often used by spyware, malware, sending your personal information, viruses and others. without your consent and often with out your knowledge.
Anti virus :- Stops and finds known and often unknown virus, on your computer. From being active on your computer.
Anti spyware :- Stops unscrupulous websites from tracking you on the internet, inserting malware, inserting virus, inserting trojans etc.
Using all of them, is needed to keep your computer clean and as safe as possible. They all do different things to help keep your computer safe.
A lot of people say ” It’s never happened to me.” The thing is, you will never know that for sure. They dont advertise the fact that they have been put on your computer.
well, i ran it lastnight… and it told me that i had 235 thingys on it.. yup.. i said thingys.. hehehehe.. cuz im not computer literate… all i know is that they are gone now.. .lol.. thanks hun..
Thanks lil_bit_shi.
That reply might encourage others to at least find out if their computer is infected.
well.. its the truth.. so hopefully people will take your post serious and do this for themselves… dam* i could be a spokes model…. hehehehehehehe… just do it… oh wait.. thats nike’.. heheheheheheheheheheh… lol..
Thankyou 27ladyg.
Stick with the spokes model, you can queen it then, being the only one. also being the first one.
hahahahahaa… thanks thep… i will surely pass it on to my personal friends..
I’m currently scanning with Ad-Aware.
My computer is like a virus magnet, I’ll probably have quite a few.
Let us know the results please.
i use to have ad-aware 2007 on my computer before i booted it.. it was good when you ran it.. but it didnt keep things from collecting on my computer… so i deleted it.

Yes I plan on doing that. I’ve scanned over 100,000 objects and have 0 viruses so far. Yay!
lil_bit_shy.
Your anti virus is for stopping virus.
Adaware is for finding them and then cleaning them from your computer. It doesnt work the same way your anti virus does.
Oops,
Over 220,000 objects and 20 viruses.
Not so yay…
Having a firewall helps prevent the virus from even getting on your computer.
You should have :-
Firewall.
Anti virus.
Anti spyware
CCleaner or something simillar.
All of them have free versions, that can be downloaded. Just type in free firewalls into the address bar. Have alook what is on offer.
Then do the same with the others in turn.
There are allready some links on this page, that you could considder.
I have :-
Comodo firewall.
Ad-Aware anti spyware.
Avg anti virus.
CCleaner.
They all come free or have free versions, if you are quite happy with the versions on your own computer, then stick with them.
The idea of this post is to make people aware that, these days proting your computer is necessary.
protecting*
If you jsut have Norton Antivirus, no it’s not a firewall. But if you have Nortno INternet Security, you might also have the firewall on, because it comes with that package.
I guess you could remove Norton, but if you dished out the 90$ or whatever it costs nowdays I’d feel like I wasted a large sum of money. I’d suggest disconnecting internet before uninstalling Norton and then installing the stuff rom the links thep provided, just to ensure that you don’t get any problems between uninstalling/installing.
Sorry I had to leave for a whhile.
It should give you instructions with each one you download. turning norton completely off while you install your program. Make sure windows firewall is turned off.
I have never heared of peer guardian, if you like the way it was advertised, give it a try. If you think it is good after you have given it a try. let us know.
This is the link from the top of the post http://www.comodo.com/products/free_p…
go have a look at all of the stuff on offer. If you like the sound of the programs download them and try them out.
hey ,

vb.
You need to make your own post so that people qualified to answer you questions can respond. This post is not the place.
I am sorry but I cant think of any advice or give any help on this subject.
It probably does come with some sort of anti virus. It be wise for you to look at the little list above, download them and try them out. If you dont like them you can always un-install them.
If you scroll up to ” I use ” there is a small list. Saves me having to repeat myself.
Hi thep, this is useful. Just need reassurance. Is Mcafee good - will it do the job of keeping my computer clean?
McAfee is fine. Comodo is better.
I find mcAfee agressive, it wants to take over your computer. Comodo is much kinder and helpfull.
You know, is that why it crashes all the time?
What crashes all the time
Sorry, my computer, at times it just freezes.
Try clearing all of the old junk you dont need from your computer.
Run you anti-virus and anti-spyware then, if you wish to renew anything.
Uninstall the old stuff and install anything you have downloaded, following any instructions that come with the downloads.
Thanks, thep and bluecat
don’t download it, it gives you a virus sometimes
newdss.
Prove that or stay quiet.

I thought you might like some help.
I have been checking out internet abuse sites most of the day. It seems that the main causes of some of the horrific things that do happen is. Abusers can put programs on your computer and get your computer to send messages back to them. This is the simplest way I can explain it.
I have also searched for the best FREE SOFTWARE to stop this from happening to you.
I came up with this :- http://www.comodo.com/products/free_p...
I will keep coming back and telling you about keeping safe on the internet.
I would appreciate you telling me if you think this a worthwhile pursuit.
STAY SAFE ON THE INTERNET.
