Hey there!

I have a housing question. I need to move ASAP. I have 10k in my checking account, net 1300 a month, and am in college. MY options do not include:

Moving back home
Dorms

I am going to check out a mobile home this weekend for 6k, this might be an option.

It may be an obvious step, but check both the local classified ads and your region’s section of craigslist.com, as well as any other places you can think of, for those who want a roommate. Look at apartments, of course (and if you simply want your privacy, you can attain a measure of that in a dorm as colleges sometimes offer private dorm rooms for increased price). Keep in mind that you still have to park your mobile home somewhere once you’ve got it, and unless you own the lot that involves buying or renting one, in addition to the usual electric, water and sewage costs that will follow you anywhere.

Also, I really hate to blow 6k on something that will lose its value so quickly, its not smart football investment wise.

i have a question too. how do you net 1300 a month while in college? that’s impressive

but anyway i agree with locke, why don’t you try to find a roommate? this can help you with the housing bills and you might be able to afford something nicer. if you’re worried about it being weird at first, pick someone you know a little better. look at lofts and apartments. or maybe half of a house. this way you won’t have to deal with finding a place to park your mobile home.

good luck :O)

I make 11 dollars an hour as a security guard. I work nights friday, saturday, and sunday, 12 hour shifts, and have the rest of the week off unless I pull some overtime at a different post. Last year I made 20k. The best part is where I work I do not have to check people in and out I just do a round once an hour and call the cops if something comes up. I spend about 10 hours sitting around doing nothing on a shift which means extra study time.

I actually did take a look at some people looking for roommates and found place about six minutes from the college for 375 a month. I am looking into that.

When I was in College, I had applied for a Part-time Maintenance Man
Position on the weekends, for a large apartment complex. I was actually
relief man for the full time guy. The pay? FREE RENT!!! I also worked
during the week as a Security Guard….it made College Life….Suuu-Sweeet!!!

Whenever a task came up that I had no idea how to fix….I ran and pick up
“Jose” and paid him a $25 bucks..L.O.L.!!!
(carpentry work of course - everything else I handled)

Four GREAT years….aaaah that was the life!!!

Thanks for jogging my memories!

Good Luck to ya!!

Enthusiasm can only be aroused by two things: first, an ideal which takes the imagination by storm, and second, a definite, intelligible plan for carrying that ideal into practice.
