Please keep the new computer on the floor. What kind of enclosure did you get for the external hard drive and how are you connecting it? Did the software download OK? Do you get any error messages?

If you have a WinXP CD from your old computer you can legally transfer your old license to you new computer. You just need to Load the CD into your system and follow the instructions. You can use the same partition but, select the format option. Be sure to use the license code from your old system when asked for it. However, the biggest problem with downgrading to XP is the device drivers. Some of the newer devices have been scheduled specifically for VISTA and the manufacturers have never developed drivers for XP. Before committing your self to downgrading to XP be sure you have searched for and downloaded XP device drivers and saved them off system.
