multi-cage (squirrel cage) induction motors

Anyone out there got any information (preferably a discription, schematic and pro’s and con’s list) for multicage induction motors?

They are fairly obsolete and mainly used in lits(elevators) i believe.

Its to help my son with a college project…

thanks in advance.

extremely useful site, thank you.

trouble is… need particular reference to MULTI cage. they have been replaced by soft start and VSD technology.
AC motors on the site are all single (as far as i can see)

Thank you again though for the effort.
