Java dev Environment
this post is to ask people who know about developing java: what is the best IDE to use?
i have just started learning it, and i am using jgrasp for the time being, but what would be in my best interest to invest time in? i have netbeans installed and i have downloaded eclipse… (and i know i put is somewhere… err…)
also, any good reference books? those would be nice to know.

eclipse has a clear advantage in that it is used (and developed) by a lot of people but sun may have something more explicitly java-oriented. I haven’t used it really but I was impressed by how the look-and-feel of eclipse changed in the past few years.
If you’re just learning Java, the IDE will only get in your way. I recommend using your favorite text editor.
As far as book recommendations, it depends on your experience. What other programming have you done in the past?
its been a while since i made this post, and have since started using jgrasp. it is basicly a text editor made for java, it is free, and i can run programs with a single click.
i only knew functional languages until now. visual basic; javascript; and bits and peices of others.
i used intellij in a java training course. i thought it was really slick.
