body help: My body feels like a shell, and not at all connected to me. - Help.com

My body feels like a shell, and not at all connected to me.

How can I connect to it. It is almost like I don’t have any nerves and I’m just this mind sitting at the top of it. What ways can I get myself to really KNOW that this entire body is me? (please do not answer “have sex” or “masturbate” or simmilar)

Isolate yourself from the world. I feel most connected with myself as I kayak through the ocean, far away from people and cities and the world. I feel most connected with myself when i pick up my guitar, play sum music and write a poem or a story. If your not an artist and are not an introvert like myself, how about taking sum time to think, to reflect. Take a walk or something simple, if your a busy person take time to just be alone with your thoughts.

Thank you; however, I don’t feel disconnected to me (if anything too isolated) I feel a disconnection between “me” and “my body”)

I am healthy (well, overweight- but other then that) I am connected to things around me. It just is that my body isn’t “me.” It is the body I am in.

try free-running, that’s what i do.
or if that doesn’t appeal, i feel most ‘connected’ to my body when i’m using it.

I felt like that until I took up very intense fitness training and boxing. With all of the difficult physical work, and worrying about achieving excellent nutrition, and making myself get the proper amount of sleep, etc, etc, I got to know my body very well — because I was so focused on it. You gotta ‘own’ your body to feel like you’re really in it.

Shawn. Yes and no. I do feel like that a lot, and I’m sure it is connected. However- that was not exactly what I’m writting this about. A lot more narrow.

One of my messages didn’t send: What is free- running? how is it different from running?

I have troubles getting into aerobic exersize. Any suggestions? (any other is fine- just aerobic gets so boring and repetitive, and results always feel like they’re only slowing down.)

free-running is sort of like….
well basically like running with added jumping and climbing.
urban play! just like using a city as a huge park to run around in.
if you type it in on youtube there will be videos.

You’re doing the wrong kind of aerobic exercise. You gotta switch it up. Throw things, jump, hit a bag, pull a sled, climb a rope.

it’s easy, just start small.
like run along walls to learn balance, jump over benches and bins and you’ll realise you can jump higher and further than you thought.

it is.
as long as you know your limits!
but then i suppose it’s all about pushing your mental boundaries. once you start practicing, your body gets used to landing jumps, etc, and it all becomes instinctive.

well, try just simple things first, like running along and jumping over small walls. also, climbing frames in parks are good to build confidence.
gradually move on to a slightly harder obstacle whenever you feel ready.
don’t try anything crazy at first though.
and it might be a good idea to get a friend to go too, in case of any accidents.
