Money help: I don’t know what to do. - Help.com

I don’t know what to do.

For about four months now, I’ve been ill. They thought it was my gallbladder, and they removed it, and I’ll admit it helped a little. But that still hasn’t solved the entire problem. I have a pain directly to the left of my left breast (I am a 23 year old female). It’s not in the center though. Some days I’ll have shooting pains up my left chest too. It really scares me. Sometimes it’s hard to keep it together. And the doctors all have ideas of what it could be. Some say it’s an inflamed chest wall, others say it’s an acid problem, others say it’s both. I’m just so tired of going to the doctors and paying them money to say maybe. I’ve had a million chest X-Rays and blood scans, along with various other tests. I just wish someone could sit down and figure me out. And fix me. All I want to do is feel well again. When my husband goes to take his shower every night, I cry because of the frustration and, to be frank, depression. I know that there are millions of people who are a lot worse off than me, but I’m just so mentally exhausted from worrying that it could be my heart or my lungs and just from feeling so bad for so long. I just don’t know what to do. Does anyone out there have a kind suggestion or piece of advice?

I’m not suicidal, just depressed from being ill for so long without any concrete answers. I just wanted to clear that up.

Instead of crying while your husband is in the shower, why not cry in front of him. Let him know that you are scared and let him hold you and tell you that everything will be ok. Its a simple thing but it will help you so much mentally. ‘A problem shared is a problem halved’

Lots of people have the same issue as you. Maybe not the same problem but the big unknown that follows them around. I say first off you need to make sure you let your better half/Hubby know how you feel and share your feelings with him.
Seems toulsonrichi is saying the same thing.

I think this is the best thing to do and also get a second opinion. I hope that you get well soon.

I do, but I feel like he’s been having to take care of me for long and shoulders so much more around the house that I try to hide some of the fear from him. He’s been so supportive, but I guess I feel like I need to hide some of it. I don’t know why. It’s like all of this has made me turn inward. This is really the first outreaching I’ve done.

And I’ve been to like five different doctors, and they all have something different to say. It’s rather annoying.

I understand that sometimes we do not want to burden our loved ones, but I believe that sometimes our loved ones want to know. Try not to shut them out because the comfort you need can come from them. You say that he has been supportive let him continue to do so. He must be feeling so helpness now and perhaps giving you comfort is the only thing he can do. Also, keeping on seeking a solution to your health - someone will get it right!

I had the same thing (kind of ) I had shooting pains down my right arm and right chest and neck. The doctors did blood tests and they didn’t know what it was. finally they told me it was some kind of viral infection and to just let it get better on its own. It took about 5 months but its better now. how long has it been for you?

viral infection? thats what doctors say when they dont know what it is. Shooting pains in your neck arm and side sound like something cardiac, maybe angina.

I know what you are going through. I have Multiple Sclerosis and was misdiagnosed for about 5 years. As the days, months, and years went on, I could tell I was getting worse and I wasn’t sharing my experience with my long time boyfriend. I was keeping it inside.

My advice is to be a self advocate - get a second or third or fourth opinion. Question the doctors and don’t give up just because they are doctors. Doctors “PRACTICE” medicine and need to be pushed sometimes so you can get to the bottom of things and stat getting better.

Maybe try holistic medicine or natural therapist as well to relieve some of the symptoms.

Share what you are going through with your husband. Just because you wait to cry when he is out of the room doesn’t mean he doesn’t know and understand the pain and frustration of what you are going through. Let him help you through this because it will help him as well.
