Sushi, feeling Low, but there’s still Sushi.

I just made sushi with crab and salmon for the second night in a row for my great niece and nephew and our families.

Anybody have favorite sushi ideas, recipes, experiences, things to go with it? Anybody never have it? Think its gross? Had it IN Japan?

Feeling kind of low tonight, but trying to keep it light…

My first experience was in Japan, and between the sake, warm beer, cooked abalone, ginger, and raw fish for the first time, well, lets just say the next day was an interesting experience in what the body is capable of in healing and feeling like crap all in one.

Oooo, but I love sushi. It took some getting used to. I went to Japan for the first time when I was 12. I never forgot it. What a wonderful experience and exposure to a different culture and cuisine. In the states I have always been a fan of seafood growing up on the east coast with some Maine lobstermen for relatives. I wasn’t used to eating uncooked seafood though and when I moved to the west coast my Japanese friends that live here understood this. It really took some getting used to, but I learned to like the taste of chilled fresh fish, warm rice or tempura fried shrimp rolled in avocado, rice, salmon and seaweed wrap with a small cup of sake or “genmai cha” (green brown rice tea.) I am going out for sushi with a couple of friends tomorrow night. The only thing I have difficulty with is raw squid - the consistency!

Ha! I love your descriptions. NO way for squid. They are such amazing and smart creatures, that and cuttle fish or octopus, I could never eat.

Wow, that sounds good, too. Dessert sushi, I never thought of that.
