I am 38 and have a great love for the church.

although i have never been
baptized through the church, all my life i have pulled by somthing towards
the catholic church. the only influences on religion in my life was from
my aunt and uncle who were strong baptists and god bless them for they have
done great things in the service of the lord. I have no bias towards any
faith but I am a man of structure. Im a stout pro lifer and i guess that has alot too do with my feelings. every time i see or hear the holy father speak or see him on t.v. it brings me too tears, not out of sorrow, but of
somthing greater than I. please help me understand and lend me some
information on becoming a true member of the church. i want so bad too go
too mass and worship but i dont want to portray myself as a “band wagon
hopper” because my love for the church is very real.
thank you.
fisher.

If you love the church as much as you say, then other people’s opinions of you shouldn’t matter. Beside’s if they were truly faithful followers themselves, they wouldn’t make such a judgement about you in the first place.

Go to mass and worship! It doesn’t matter what anyone else says. If it feels right for you, then go, be happy.

You shouldn’t mind being called a band wagon hopper……don’t pay attention to those that point their fingers and scoff at you…pay attention rather to the fruit of life and eat of it.

I’m a Catholic. The church teaches us that salvation is open to all men of good faith, not just catholics (despite what some may believe. Read a good catholic’s page http://catholicity.elcore.net/TheSalv…).

Yet, Christ may be calling you to his church. Those rituals may appear strange, as it seemed strange to the apostles when the Lord asked them to east his flesh and drink his blood. Open your soul and understanding will follow.

Heres the problem that I have. Why should you worry about how you are supposed to act in church, you should be able to just sit there if you want too. Is your god so narrow minded that if you don’t act or worship in a certain way he will strike you down. As you said ”I just have concerns that in order too worship right, i have to be right. i value the oportunity so much that i want too be right in the eyes of god before i pursue it and i dont know how”.It don’t matter where you are or what church your in, you shouldn’t be afraid of your god, if you are then your going about it all wrong. This is just the way I see it. Hope this helps :-)

I grew up in the Catholic Church and it was good for it keep me near God. All of the time though I knew somthing was a little off. I hung in there with God and I went through a few other churches. I beleave God has us in certain places for certain reasons and today I am part of a Calvary Chapel. All I can say keep bioth eyes open and pray to God for decernment, and read your Bible. If it does not sound right it probably is not. If they are not against us they are with us, but wacth out for the cults that use Christ as a shield to fool you. Read your bible and pray and keep your eyes open! My problem with the Catholic Church was to much stuff was added that is not based from the Bible. But again they did give me the foundation to grow and move forward in my life with Christ!
