i personally have two tattoos and i never experienced this… i hope that it is just the ink on the top layer of your skin and that they didnt mess it up on you..

i know that when i got my tattoos… the artist doing them… did little things to them other than the pictures that i brought in… its a way of making it his or her own… are you sure that they didnt do this to yours??

my friends uncle did it.. he did 2 of my mates the same day and theres is perfect i dont no if it was because i did any thing wrong.. this might sound abit stupid but do you think if it would fade a little if i put fake tan just over the smudged bits?? im going on holiday with my bf soon and want it to look nice in my bikini..

adding something to the tattoo where the smudge is sounds like a good solution. maybve you should get it done by somebody else

seeing a professional for advice would be the best thing and if you have olive skin do not use fake tan you will be orange

ah, i just read the rest of the posts and i see that yours is already healed. uh oh, now i don’t know. that’s definitely not good, and i agree that you should talk to the guy who did it, or just go to any tattoo shop and ask them. good luck!

well, it’s a temporary solution for a permanent problem. it may help it look okay in a bikini, but it might wash off it you get wet. or you could try concealer cream in your skin color.

oh sorry! adding to it would work, or she could get the smudging done all around it so it looks like it was intended to be part of the design. or, if you have the money, laser removal of the smudges?

btw, to charlie: did you happen to put vaseline on it right after getting it done? i’ve heard that it screws with the ink.

How old ws the tat when you posted this? If it was in the first few days, its normal. The needles are dipped in the ink, some of the ink will sluff of the dead skin it produces.

Where did you get this tat done? Was it done by a professional?

I had a tattoo about six months ago on the inside of my upper arm .Ive got the same as you an ink stain underneath it. The tattooist said its called ghosting and very rare . Its something to do with the fat under your skin that absorbs the ink .he told me not to worry it will go but it takes time.

I’d actually like to know the answer to what happened too… I just got one on my hip yesterday and it looks like it’s smudges around most of the entire border! Also when I clean it with hot water (like I was told), some of the ink like comes off on the gauze I use… normal?

I have just had one done under my arm and on my side and it looks like it has a faint brown stain around the edges but I reckon it is just a slight bruising, which will fade.
