I posted not too long ago about my family problems and how I felt like I was being ignored..

Well I’ve noticed that besides that part of my life, I’m just not happy in general right now. I don’t know what to do. I just feel like I’m in a slump. Part of me thinks I might even have a mild depression and I want to ask my mom if i can go away for a while and just try and get my life in order. But i dont know how to approach that subject.

I am a 41 year old man who is severaly depressed. I might be going through a divorce and losing everything. I would suggest you are open with your mother. She has probably been through some of the same issues. She might give you some insight and surprise you with her response.

If you approach your Mom, you have to be fair to her and tell her how youve been feeling. DB made a good point, you may be supprised at her response. Dont tell her you HAVE to go away, tell her youve thought about it as a way to help you out of this slump. She may agree, she may not. She may suggest something better. The trick is, go in to this conversation with an open mind. Be willing and ready to accept other ideas.
