Why do people judge others by what they wear, do, or where they live?
Just a question.

because everyone needs to caterogize other people so you know where you fit in it’s human nature
People generally judge others because they are so unhappy with there own situations. they find it easier to make fun of others than too look in the mirror and solve there own problems. i was always taught that u must love ur self and be proud of what u have and what u can accomplish. just be happy within ur self and dont worry what others have to say.
It’s ok to judge by what they do I think, but not what they wear or what area they live in.
We can’t help but judge when we see people, but we can try to not let that judgement affect how we treat them. We all deserve a chance at being a decent person.
I think fear….I remember when I was first married we were apartment managers and recieved a discount on our rent if we lived on site..so we did and it was only blocks from the beach, however downtown in the not so nice part. Some of our friends refused to come over and visit. They said they were afraid they would be car jacked or their vehicle would be broken into. We lived there for 5 years. Never did our car get broken into. I also believe that people like to associate with their same “status”. If you are visibly different, they will prematurely judge you as someone they don’t want to get to know due to your lack of “status”…and they assume you won’t have anything in common. As for clothing, that’s a big misunderstanding. I know several people that are very intellegent and fun to be with, however they don’t put a big interest into their clothing. Everyone should be given the same chance to be a friend, regardless of clothing or where they live. Some of the most valuable people you’ll get to meet in your life are humble due to their circumstances.
Because people are stupid, and most of the people know that other people give a crap about what they think of them, so they tear other people down just to hurt them.
Well, really, what someone does is the perfect basis on which to judge them. It reflects their moral character.
But why? Let’s say you ride the metro to work every day. The train is always crowded. One of your coworkers, an acquaintance, rides with you. Now, one day, you see this coworker give up his seat for an old white man and you think “aw, that’s really great that he would do that,” and see him in a better light. A few days later, you see him refuse to give up his seat for an old, frail black woman. He just glances at her and goes back to reading his newspaper. You figure that maybe he just had a rotten morning or isn’t feeling well, until you start to notice that he will never give his seat up to black people, not to the black woman who’s 8 months pregnant, not to the old black man with a hearing aid, but will almost always give his seat to white people in similar situations. I think in that instance, it’s fair to assume that he’s a racist pig.
well, ya. In that case you can judge him that far. But you can’t judge everybody by things they do. Because they may have good reasons for things that they do. but you may not know those reasons.
well maybe cuz they got betta stuff thnxx for the reply (we are alreadii togetha 3yrsz in Feb 14 same day as ma b-day) he iisz popular so am i he iisz in 8 im in 7
Thanks for the replies. =) I was just wondering what others thought. I honestly think though that people judge others for one or two reasons….
1. they want what the other people have, so they get jealous and hateful.
or
2. they have what the other person does have so they make fun of them.
Did you know that people judge others by what they do not wear? If you are wearing the wrong colors in some area of certain cities, that is not a good idea.I also believe that people like to make a statement by what they wear. They do it for many reasons, such as for attention, or to say ” look at me, I am sexy, but do not touch”. Others dress the way they do because they are trying to give the finger to authority of all types. Look at people who dress gothic, or punk rockish. Now if that is not making a statement, then what is? The qusetion is should we judge them because the way they look? It would be hard not to. You see a handsome man in a business suit, and he looks sharp. How do you judge him, or what comes to your mind? Judging others by what they do? It is by what they do, you can know how to judge them. Is all judgement wrong? Concerning people who judge others because of where they live, is because they are fearful, or they think of themselves to highly. :)+
