I’ve made a bad career decision.
Now I don’t know what to do. I have no idea whether to persue my current career and lie on my CV or should I change career direction all together, only the possibility of getting a job I enjoy for the salary I require is minimal.

lie on your CV or rely? You know CV’s are SUPPOSED to tell the truth, would you go to a dentist who faked he was a dentist on his CV? Personally I wouldn’t.
basically, it’s completely lieing about the job I have been doing for the last year…. so a friend said just put there contact and company details on my CV and they will help me out. but if they get caught there job is in trouble, plus I know nothing about the industry I workk in and any interviews I go for I don’t sound confident at all.
its not lioking I’m lieing about my qualifications or the type of work I have done / can do. Just the company I lst worked at bit.
I’ll neve be able to continue in my career or get a good job if I tell the truth.
No offence, but I still think it’s lame and it still means you’re faking your experience, which means if you get hired you’re doing it at the expense of others who really DESERVE the job.
But lies will catch up to you and sting you if you keep going.
Honesty is the best policy. I say tell the truth and work hard. You’ll get there.
Nobody just jumps into a good job. Work yourself up from scratch like everybody else does.
I’ve been working realy hard for nearly 10 years now… I am fully qualified, finally, and made this one mistake choosing to work for a rubbish company, I would really like to wipe the last year completely off my radar/CV.
If they see the past companies you’ve worked for then you can tell them in an interview that you’d made a bad decision with the company you worked for the past year and that’s the reason for why you’re leaving it.
true - that is the hard part, admit I made a bad decision.
More over, tell the potential employer that you are looking for a new challenge and that you are hard working and willing to learn. Do not say bad things about your past employer. The fact that you are looking for something else says it all.
i think Bex is right, any employer will ask you about your previous employment, and you have to be able to be honest with them and with youself.
If you made a bad call, then tell them, explain you gave the job every chance which shows you are dedicated but have decided that it is time for a new challenge and that you think that you are ready for a new role.
I really believe that no matter who interviews you, everyone will have made a wrong call at some point, but the knack is to turn it into a positive by pointing out that you have gained experience from it.
Every employer wants to think that their staff are constantly improving and learning so if you demonstrate those skills in an interview i know you will be fine!
Good Luck
Done!! CV changed with small explanation in the personal profile section. x
Well done you! Good luck with the job hunting. Work hard and you’ll get there!
You could just not put it on your CV at all. Leave the last year blank. Tell the interveiwer you’ve been working on finding yourself…
I would never lie on a resume - You may find your self in a dream job if you work hard at it for the next 2 years. I hope you job is getting better.
50% of resume’s have a lie on them somewhere - I have known many employers who have fired people or not hired them for lying - this is something employers do not usually tollerate.
Good Luck!
