When people ask for help, I wonder if they ever thought of trying meditation.
here would be a place they could go and ask questions. www.project-meditation.org
Meditation has helped me and a lot of other people who are faced with problems in there life.

I think it depends on a problem. Probably meditation can help when main cause of the problem is lack of the peace of mind.
lgessne, I have to agree with you on that. Meditation is good in some cases. I rarely do that when needed.
Very true itsmag
ya but the problems might be little… don’t mean you have to go ruching to the medicne shop for little probs that can be sorted out by hearing or woteva
If I were better educated, then I would probably meditate daily. Maybe your link will help.
I’ve heard people mention prayer often, which is something usually done with the heightened awareness and mindful attentiveness of meditation.
I dont have time to meditate. but i do find it helps you to forget things that trouble you when done properly.
I think its a very valuble thing to do. but also very hard and can be inconvenient for a lot of people due to lifestyles etc.
You know meds are a good source to help and treat the symptoms, but again alot of underlying problems are not solved and act as a temporary bandaid solution, while at times meds can actually cure the problem.
I know myself, knowing the side effects and wanting the best for my body, I would rather try to find solutions away from medication. I have had experience where the docs wanted to perscribe Celebrex( known side effects) for something they coudln’t pin point the cause of. I told them I don’t want the medication to mask the problem. I wanted it fixed and not to perscribe medication because I wouldn’t take it.
I have had other problems where medication would help, but being pregnant at the time, I chose to suffer because I didn’t want my baby effected.
I turned to prayer and I have to say, keep praying until it is answered. I have many wonderful outcomes due to prayer. It doesn’t happen over night, and it’s a matter of are you wiling to wait and be patient and go the distance to see the outcome of your answered prayer. Medication may have quicker results but the results of prayer are lasting.
( I do not even take tylenol or cough medicine unless I ABSOLUETLY HAVE to… That’s very rare.)
i think many people have the wrong idea about meditation!! I meditate daily and swear by the positive results it brings about for me on a daily basis. If you’re feeling bad, give it a try!! :)
Thanks for the reply. If you can, go to the project meditation site and share your experience.
I have ADD and a lot of anxiety. I think meditation could help me a lot if I were to do it on a regular basis, but it can sometimes be hard to find the time and be undisturbed for a full 15 minutes. I stopped a while ago and it can sometimes be difficult to restart.
Regarding the site you put up, it is such a shame there are so many cash grabs out there. Meditation does not require special music or anything. Those cds were expensive. The horrible myth about meditation is that there is always a “superior” form of meditation that can be learned.
Betta, did you go to the forums? You don’t have to buy CD’s. You can be on-line with thousands of people who meditate. You can get the material for free. I did.
I see the forum on that site. Its a forum with one poster. Each post talks about how meditation works. Very much like a book I got called the relaxation response. 99 % of the book talked about the scientificly proven benefits of meditation, and there was about 2 pages on technique.
Is this where you went for the forum?

oops no. I went here: http://www.project-meditation.org/com…
I’d love to try meditation. I have tried to do it myself with limited success so I think I’d need some guidance to get me started. A sort of face-to-face meditation tutorial. How I’d go about getting one (or affording it!) I don’t know.

I hope that you will go to the link that I provided and you will see that people from all over the world have joined in the forum there at that site. Meditation has changed my life and if there is anything that I can do to help you please let me know. The site and program owner Michael Mackenzie provides great tutorials and we are all there to support him and help you.
Thanks for helping me with my problem!! ^_^ I don’t think meditation will take the smoke smell away, but I’ll definitely look into that spray bar owners use, and I’ll try meditation. Perhaps I can get my boyfriend’s parents to turn to meditation instead of cigarettes :) Thank you so much!
Meditation has been shown to alter addiction. I recall reading especially for cigarettes. Meditation actually re-wires the brain to improve concentration, decrease anxiety and depression, and do many other things of benefit, with no side effects (TM apparently can have side effects and withdrawal symptoms but most others don’t).
Hi Larry,
thanks for your response. Yes, I agree w. you, meditation is an EXCELLENT tool. Me, I don’t meditate in the regular sense, but I do have a spiritual discipline, I sing classical indian vocal devotional music. It is my saving grace!!
The only problem with suggestiing meditation to my son is that HE is the one that has to decide what to do from here.
I did have a pretty nice visit w. him and one of his aunties today for an hour. He is OK. Weird, but maybe jail is his rites of passage into manhood. Part of me thinks he just doesnt want to grow up and be responsible for himself, that he does not have mental health issues outside of being a Peter Pan.
again, thanks for writing,
Regards,
Anna
