Just two. I checked the packet. It says take 1/2 every 6hours. There the only ones i have taken.
Then it is’nt the codeine. You should go imediatley to the casualty department at the hospital. Do it now, dont waste your time on here until you have done that.
Then let me know what is wrong with you.
Really? Should i just ring NHS direct? If they think its urgent they wil put me straight through. I dont want to waste anyones time.
Ive only ate cheese and toast today and i’ve had a milkshake…so it cant be that.
I agree… even if your condition is psychosomatic, it is manifesting itself in some very dangerous ways… call an emergency nurse or do what Thep says and just go in- please!

First off, you should be sleeping. Not sitting in front of a computer screen.
Secondly, this sounds like the flu or a migraine. At least the way I get them. I’ve fainted from the flu - I was hot and dizzy and clammy and then weeeeeeee, down I went. And I was taking over the counter meds too. I also faint when I get migraines. Same naseous deal. Being scared of the meds definately heightens your senses.
I’m not so sure that the ER is a smart idea but I could be wrong. The ER is loud, noisy and you sit there waiting forever. Not the best place to be if you feel ill, to be honest, and if this hasn’t been going on too long then maybe it will go away. Has it been getting worse or just staying the same horrible?
My advice is to take a drink of cold water, find a dark room and take a nap. Maybe put something cold on your head too if that makes you feel better. I hope I’m not making this into something less than it is but I always feel the way you described when I get sick.
Thep and Richard say go to the ER. I dunno.
Ok. Well im going to ring Nhs. I’ve told my mom and she says she’ll take me if i need to go. its only 5mins away from my home.
I dont have the flu i dont think because i dont have a cold with it. And i do get migranes sometimes but it doesnt feel like this.
i’ll ring them now whilst im on here. i’ll let you know what im doing.

Yeah im not allergic. I dont think its going to kill me…but i’ve never reacted like this or felt like this before.
I guess if you never felt like this before then it’s different.

Well i’e just rang NHS direct and the y think is the codeine. So told me to go to the minor injuries unit.
I have eten today…and im not someone with anxiety anymore :)

hey hun… just got your post from thep…. i hope that you are ok hun… on the bottle.. does it say to take up to 2 of them at once? or is it 1/2 like you said above? have you ever taken 2 before at once?

Hi everyone…sorry i couldnt let you know if i was ok.
I went to hospital and they kept me in till just after 4am this morning.
Im ok, basically whats happened is my doctor messed up and has give me codeine that was too strong..
so i have taken what i would normally take…only with a higher dosage. So thats why i reacted bad this time when i havent before..the nurse told me its got morphine in it and i think thats pretty strong isnt it?
But yeah they kept me in until it wore off and have given me something else for my back now and im ok.

Glad to hear you are ok, sorry I didn;t get to your post sooner, what a scare you had.
I hope you are going to sort that doctor out, I mean what if he has done the same mistake with others? And some people are on more harsh prescriptions than than, if he can make a mistake like that then who kows if he will do it again and to someone who does not have a strong amune system or things like that.
Anyhow, I am glad you are feeling better now it is out of your system, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much, codine can be an addictive substance when used in the wrong way but as you said, you only take it when you are desperate so just keep it that way.
Yeah im quite a ‘non addictive’ type of person i suppose you could say. I rarely take it. I usually only take it if its really bad or if i have something important to do that day and need to be feeling better to continue.
I usually have 15mg and take 2.
And i looked on the packet and each tablet is 30mg so i had 60mg alltogether.
And i guess for someone who doesnt take a lot of medication for things…i dunno maybe thats why i reacted bad because im not used to it etc?
The hospital have said i can take 1 tablet if i ever need to and i should be ok. I feel weary about even taking that though now lol.
Thing is, im allergic to paracetamol and i cant take ibuprofen because it affects my breathing badly.
It’s just the doseage, they usualy determin dose by age, hight and as you say if your used to it, if someone has been on a dose for years and after a time it will stop working as well then they up the dose.
I wouldn’t worry too much, they checked you out and said you were ok and said that one pill would be enough but if you are weary then maybe try takeing half the pill and say 20mins later take the other jalf if you feel you need to.
I might do..but if you know what a codeine pill looks like..its easier said than done!
its as tiny as a contraceptive pill…
i will just make sure next time i take it, i dont have anything important to do so it wont affect my day/responsabilities etc.
I have taken quite strong things before…when i was on A/D i was on the highest dose of fluoxetine you can get. The doctors know im not an addictive person so don’t worry about it too much i guess. But im quite a tiny person…im a bit shorter than average height and im quite thin too..plus i only had breakfast about 5mins after i ate it..so it might of made me feel worse?
i dont really know. they said i am ok though and im not allergic to that too so thats a relief. (im running out of things i can take otherwise lol)

Im sorry…i didn’t want to scare anyone. I’m ok though. I wish i could of got in touch with you. I got andy to log on and he said he managed to get on here but didnt know how to find anyone to tell them..plus i managed to log on but parents were around so i didnt feel like typing…
it was on one of those pull down tv things…plus they put me in a short stay ward so i didnt want to wake everyone lol.

I think i am maybe oversensitive or something. Probably has something to do with the fact that i rarely take them..
Nope not a heroin addict…i’ve never actually taken any kind of illegal drug in my life. So i’ll be good…i hope! Thanks TJ :)

I feel really ill…if you cant be bothered 2 read much, please read the bit in bold at least.
Ok…4things.
1. I am allergic to Paracetamol. And Ibuprofen makes my breathing bad. So i get Codeine on perscription. Ive been ok before taking it.
2. I am the kind of person where its like…i only take medication if im desperate.
3. I watched a fictional programe last night. A heroin addict couldnt get any, so she drank cough medicine with codeine in it. Which made her feel like she’d got that fix again.
4. I have incredible back ache today, so i took 2. and…i feel soo ill…i think im about to pass out or something…seriously. My cheeks feel as if they are swollen or heavy and they ache. I am so dizzy, i can hardly see what im writing. And my fingers and legs and feet are VERY VERY numb. and the rest of my body is slightly numb. I feel like im going to faint and im really hot.
Ok so could this be because i’ve got it in my mind that codeine does the same as heroine or something? Is is in my head that i feel ill? Or should i do something? What should i do? My eyes are starting to go weird now…and i keep ’screwing my eyes up’ because they feel weird.
So question.
1. Is there a link between heroine and codeine or something?
2. What should i do about me feeling ill? Its dangerous if i go to sleep right?
