Windows XP does not detect your modem.

The protocol is not configured.
A dial-up connection could not be established.
You cannot connect to the Internet.

Unplug and re-set your modem, first. Then, try again. That’s one of the more common problem fixers. If that doesn’t work, then yeah, call tech support.
