Hair colouring 101.

My question is, does anyone have any pointers as far as hair colouring? I am going to switch to black hair to make it look more full. My worry is, how to not get stains all over me and my bathroom. Any suggestions??? thank you

Hiya……
Put a very large bath towel on the floor of the bathroom, and old one and colour your hair over that, don’t walk around doing it.
To prtect your skin you need a barrier cream, vasaline works well, rub a good amount around the edge of the hairline makeing sure not to get it on the hair, if you get colour on your skin then try and get it off as soon as you can, if you miss a bit then the best thing to get it off is natural oils (sweat basically lol)

I died my hair black a couple of days ago, using black hair dye in a magnolia bathroom. My bath and dressing gown suffered somewhat. In future I shall follow lazydaze’s advice!

I would say don’t worry too much about getting bits on your skin, I got quite a bit on mine and after 3 days it’s almost completely gone.

I am pleased with the result though, so that’s something. Good luck!

I’ve found that it helps to apply the color with a stiff brush. If you don’t overload your hair or the brush with color, then there is less of a chance of the dye getting all over the place (if it’s a gel).

I would suggest having it done professionally. If money is a problem try a cosmetology school. They usually do it for next to nothing!! If you really want to do it yourself, cover EVERYTHING in the bathroom. And wash out the bathtub/shower while you’re still in it or it will stain the tile. And make sure you have aplastic shower curtain and not cloth.
