My kitten has a bump on his back.
i tried posting this earlier but it never came up on the screen. He is very healthy but I found a squishy lump on his back near his shoulder blades, not attached to any bone. I will take him to the vet on Monday if it is still their but I guess i wanted some reasurance that he is too young to have any serious problems - he’s 2 months old- and its unlikely that he may have a cancer bump!!!???? PLEASE HELP

i just discovered what sounds like the same thing on my 4 1/2 month old kitten last night, too. i cried thinking it could be cancer, which is what my last cat died from at the age of 15 years, and couldn’t bare the thought of losing my new baby. so i was up at 4:30am looking online when i found your post. i also found several more similar ones. since it appears to be quite common i’m a little relieved that it’s less likely to be cancer and, instead, is something else less harmful. but being the paranoid new mom that i am i’m taking my kitten in as soon as i can. she’s also recovering from coccidia — she’s been a handful! but i wouldn’t want any other kitten :) i’ll let you know what my vet says…fingers crossed!
so i took my baby in and the doctor said if it is the same size or larger in two weeks to bring her back in (a.k.a. it’s serious). i’m ELATED to say that just 5 days after discovering the lump it’s practically disappeared. he didn’t say exactly what it was, if it wasn’t cancer, but i’m just glad that thing is gone. however, if anyone finds something similar i would NOT assume it’s the same thing. keep an eye on it for a few days and note it’s size from the day you find it so you can tell the docotor how it’s progessed.
good health to everyone and their pets!
I know from having pets, when they were young, their normal check up shots can cause swelling and form a small hard lump. Usually the shot is administered in the neck, where they pinch the skin over and inject the needle, which is less painful. It can swell up into a lump and last for about a week. My dog had one when he got his second set of shots. Usually animals do not show an allergic reaction until it is administered twice. Similar to humans with bee stings. (It is usually the second time getting stung that indicates if you are allergic to bees) The Vet always knows best, so check it out to be sure, but if you recently took them to get shots, it might not be anything to worry about. Hope this helps :)
my kitten is about 5 1/2 months old
black and white tuexedo looking, has white socks and a bib hahaa
but he had just gotten a flea shot about a month ago and i have recently noticed a bump on/near his spine in the middle.
i am going to take him in but he seems normal, playful, he just is really tired passes out for like 4 hours at a time
my puppy has that
We just found a very young kitten with a hard lump on her back this is about in the middle between her head and her tail. It seems to cause her some discomfort if anyone messes with it. We just got her today and I don’t know what to do about it. I am a little afraid to even become attached to it because I am not sure what it has. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. Thanks!
hahahahahaha u r all so thick nothing to worry about it natural for some types of kitten to get it but it is really nothing to worry about it will go
I just found a lump on my 6 month old kitten. It is on his back leg. When I touch it he doesn’t seem to feel any pain. It feels as though there is a skittle under his skin - about the same size, shape and feeling. It doesn’t seem to be attached to anything under the skin either. I just got him 1 week ago and I know he was just neutered 2 weeks ago. Do you think that the lump could be from a needle? From the sounds of it the other kitten developed lumps within a few days of the needle. I am just a worried, paranoid momma!
Also, my kitten pants after I play with him for 5 mins running. If it were just 1 symptom or another I wouldn’t be so worried!
Does anyone else have something similar? Will he be ok?
My cats had a lump on his back near his tail [&&] it hurt him when anybody touched it. it was about the size of an egg.
He was trying to bite it earlier today.
But he had just come in about half an hour ago and he was bleeding were it used to be and the lump seems to have gone down, we think it may have popped, and he keeps growling at it and licking it.
Does anybody know what it could be?
Plz write back
hi everyone my kitten who is 9 months old also has a little lump on his back near his tail!!!… i was so worried bout so i toke him to my vet and he said it most likely might be sarcoma!!! thats a type of cancer whhich comes from the rabbies vaccine. He was neutered about a month ago and he did get his rabbies shot. Now my vet says i need to do xrays in order to see if it didnt spread to the lungs cause if it did then it’s to late! I was so upset after all that! so he was pretty much telling me my kitty might die if we didnt do anything soon and i have no money!.. so i took him to another vet and he said the chances of it being sarcome is low so i dont even know who to belive!!! i dont understand this my kitten is so young how could it be a ccancer???? Can anyone help???
Ugh. My baby Bella has the same thing. Its a hard lump about the size of a nickel right behind her left shoulder blade. Its weird. I just noticed it today and Im really concerned.. She is about 2 months old now and she will be getting her 2nd set of shots in about 4 days, so i am going to ask the vet about it when we go, but I am still concerned…. Has anyone figured out what these things are so I can have some peace of mind until Tuesday????
My cat developed a mushy lump behind his left ear about 2 days ago, wasn’t there one night then all of a sudden just appeared. He was in a fight about a week or 2 ago and the scabs on his ear all cleared up nicely. Now he has this lump. Don’t have a penny for the vet just now so don’t know what to do. Please Help..!! He’s a male, neutered outdoor cat. but not been out for the past week…!! xx
I’m really worried..
My kitten is a month old and has a lump on its back as well on the shoulder blade on the right side and is not drinking anything he will eat and has normal bowl movments but i am unsure of what is is i don’t have any money to take him into the vet what should i do?????????????
Most of you sound like your cats have either injection site lumps (which will go away) or an abcest which cats often get from fighting and being scratched/bitten by another cat (even kitten play fighting!)
Abcest’s are usually under the skin, can get quite big if left and usually aren’t rock hard… they are fluid filled lumps and are usually a bit squishy and have some give in them, and move around a little if you push it (because it’s just under their skin). As these are an infection, your cat may seem to sleep more often and be a bit lethargic the longer the lump is there as their body tries hard to fight off the infection. A vet will prescribe antibiotics to help clear it up, and will usually want to do surgery to put a tube through the lump to let the puss drain out — if it’s already gotten too big and burst before you noticed if you take your cat to the vets they will likely just give your cat a course of anti-biotics and tell you to bathe the area with warm salty water and / or put an antiseptic cream on it.
If the lump is hard and feels like a bone growing oddly, or sticking out strangely etc and it’s not possible to move it at all (the skin just moves about over the top of it and the lump is completely stationary [you should be able to tell easily if it moves or not…]) then it’s possible it could be a tumour or bone cancer and should be checked as soon as possible by a vet. Note any changes in shape/size etc so that you have this information ready for your vet when you go in to see him / her.
My cat has just been diagnosed with a soft pallete tumour. The vet has informed us that he is in no pain and we will know when its time to put him to sleep. He takes steriods every day to limit the size the tomour will grow. Basically what I am looking for is any idea of how to pro long his death. The vet has given him 2 months to live but I do belive with the right help he can last alot longer. His breathing is very harsh and he sounds like he is struggling, we have been advised that this is not the case and this is just the sound of his breathing due to the tumour. Any help would be much appreciated as I do love him and will try anything to help him?
my 8 month old kitten has had a lump for the past 5-6 weeks. I left it thinking it might go away, but it hasn’t & I am taking him to the vets in 1/2 hours time. I’m praying it’s nothing serious as we had to have our last cat put to sleep as he had a lump (he was only 2 years old).
My kitten doesn’t go out & has been neutered. Fingers crossed - but I am dreading the vets visit
my 15 week old kitten has this too i discovered today..i spoke to the vet and she said it could be from the jab site…BUT its not in the scruff..its between the shoulder blades. wayyy to low for it to be this…he also goes back in 3 days to have his second jab..so he hasnt even been out at all yet to fight.
watch this space.
my cat is 6 yrs, nuetured, and an inside cat. he has a lump in the middle of his tail under the skin.i can move it around a little, but it pretty much stays put. it doesnt seem to bother him unless i press on it. i noticed it about a year ago but cant afford the vet. since it doesnt seem to bother him i just left it. but it still concerns me. i am really worried after reading all these comments, and i dont want to lose him. i have him and his son, and they are my boys,(since my older boys moved out). niether one of them wouldnt know what to do without the other. any advice?
my kitten is seven and a half wks and has the abcest type lump quite big above his left shoulder only found it half hr ago not only that but he has runny eyes runs and iv found blood in the litter tray but carnt get him to see a vet til monday could these all be symptoms of the lump ?
my kitten had an actual blow fly maggot in the middle of her back and i useed my fingernails and as soon as it breathed out i grabbed it out of there and now she is healthy
I have adopted a stray kitten that was bitten or jabbed on one side (midway). The bite or jab site has healed but now there is a mushy lump about the size of a half dollar on the other side up near spine. I am assuming it is an infection. She seems fine, active, but sleeps for long periods of time and has diarrehea. I don’t have money for a vet as I am unemployed but I do have some antibiotics on hand for cats. Should I try giving her some? Also, do I just wait until the lump bursts on its own or should it just slowly go away OR do I need to try to poke it with a needle, drain it and put some neosporin on it? Any thoughts? I’m used to doctoring my pets with available resources so this doesn’t bother me. At least she’s not on the street anymore, right?
My Cat is having the same problem. His lump is on his leg. He keeps running around the house and then stops to bite at the bump. It’s bleeding now =/
It’s a squishy bump. He freaks out when I touch it. Please someone help us figure out what it is and if I find out, I’ll post the update.
I have a question my cat is american black 8yrs old indoor he has a lump on the scruff of his neck but it does not hurt him at all
my cat has a tiny bump on his side under his front leg, he doesn’t seem to be in pain, but he seems really ticked at me for shaving the spot so I could see it, it is soft, smaller than a dime, and full of clear, unsmelly liquid, it opens a bit drains, shrinks, and then grows again, is it like a pimple? neither one of my cats has front claws, and they are both nutered, and he is an orange tiger cat, american shorthair I think it is, has anyone figured this out yet?
**UPDATE** I took my cat to the vet and it was just what I thought. Just a bubble of infection that bubbled up on the surface from days or even weeks after a old injury.
My cat ripped it open with his teeth(It must have been itching or bothering him) So After he ripped it open, he stretched it out really wide and nasty so I had to take him to the vet and pay around 300$ total getting him stitched up.
He is 100% healed and better now. I’m very greatful I spent the money to take care of the wound, I look at him everyday thinking to myself I’m so happy I didn’t just put him down.
So To everyone that has a cat with a bump with liquid inside, take him to the vet and have them take care of it for a cheap price instead of waiting for your cat to rip it open and pay 300$ for stitches >.
Hello my kitten is 4 months old, and about two days we discovered that a lump like the size of a bean grow under her skin, the lump is on her back near to the tail (aprox.) it doesn’t bother her and I touch and move the lump, I don’t find any sign of a scratch or bruise , I’m quite concern ,she just had her firs vaccine one week ago. I’ve decided to wait till her second vaccine ,to see the vet but I’m quite concern, I hope is nothing serious just a lump after vaccine it is possible?? And to appear after 1 week since she got her first one??
