Youtube won’t work.

I get the following message:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe’s Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

I have checked to make sure my Java is turned on (it is) and clicked on the link provided to download the Flash player (which may or may not have been how my comp ended up detected a virus that day). I still get the stinking message. Can someone help?

I have turned my comp on and off half a dozen times since this message first showed up. I even left it off overnight. No change.

hmmmmmm, so I usually use Mozilla and that’s where the problem is. I just got the bright idea to try my Internet Explorer and it worked fine. So the problem has been narrowed down to the browser, but I still see in my Tools/Options dialog that JavaScript is on. Does anyone know if there is someplace else I can check?

I tried everything, from uninstalling adobe flash player, restarting my computer, reinstalling it, turning off my firewall, and using both internet explorer and mozilla. I even checked if Javascript is on, and it is, but the message of having the old version of flash player reappear. Why is that?

I ended up having to go into Tools, Options, Privacy and then clearing the data (cookies and cache, etc.) to get my Youtube to work again properly.

I’ve had nothing but problems since updating to the new Adobe Flash Player, and my research on the internet indicates that I’m not the only one. Programs that require it on my computer can’t run it and I haven’t figure out how to fix them. However Adobe denies that there are any glitches in the program and will not issue a solution, so all you can do is look for information in places like this post.

I’m having the exact same problem, and I’ve been doing everything you did: “I have checked to make sure my Java is turned on (it is) and clicked on the link provided to download the Flash player (which may or may not have been how my comp ended up detected a virus that day). I still get the stinking message…” I also did what you suggested in the last post, ” I ended up having to go into Tools, Options, Privacy and then clearing the data (cookies and cache, etc.) to get my Youtube to work again properly.” But, still nothing. I can’t even play video clips on facebook anymore… any help?

If you delete your cache in internet options on explorer then refresh the page it works. No idea why, must be flash.

hey, for all those who it doesn’t work for I just made mine work today.
1. First of all clear your cache but this may not solve the problem. Then enable all activeX controls by going to tools, internet options, security, custom level. It will say your computer is unsafe but you can change it back after you have installed adobe.
2. Go to youtube page and go to help recources.
3. After doing this go to the general help center and click on “the video won’t play” link. Follow the instructions.
4. It will tell you to download an uninstaller then re install adobe but you must restart your computer and when you redownload adobe make sure your other windows are all closed.
5. This may not work the first time but give it a couple of goes and hopefully you should get the result I did :)

Good Luck.
