My Boss is wanting to switch all our company computers to Linux Ubuntu but we dont know if Peachtree is compatible with it or not, and it is a mandatory program for our company.

I don’t think they have a version for Linux, but I’ve heard there are one or more windows emulators for Linux. Peachtree Accounting might run with that, but most likely Peachtree won’t support it if you need to call them for help or technical support.

I would suggest that you contact Peachtree. If they have a version for you, then you can also check group pricing. If you already have a working system at your work why would you want to mess with it? Not only will you have to reload all of your systems with Linux and a new version of accounting software (your IT staff will need to test the new accounting package for any differences). Then you will have to bring your IT staff up to speed with Linux. The next decision will be should we purchase an additional system to rotate through your personnel or eat the down time with you’re your personnel while your upgrading their equipment? Of course it’s nice to have a spare system to rotate into a down workstation. Then you will need to retrain your personnel on any differences between the old and new systems. Sounds like a fairly large investment depending on the size of your staff.
