I take a little pile of paper from point A and place it in Point B. Sometimes (just for some excitement) my colleges and I like to discuss “Point C”. But that is only after they have been in with the laminater too long (fumes).

P-Yeah,I know what you mean. That will be an ongoing thing .Let me explain; The kids are grown,I don’t care for the g-kids anymore on a regular basis. So now what do I do? I love helping here, but it doesnt pay the bills. And I cant go back to what I’ve done before due to getting older, failing health and other things.

We could do with more paper movers. Not as exciting as kids and G-kids, but very clear cut.

M- paper mover? Is that a joke?…..W-Like caring 4 the elderly or something? No-That’s not an option . I’ve always done physical work in the past. Can’t do that anymore. Only basic typing ,puter skills. And what I do has to be purposeful or I will get bored.

What are you passionate about, Felicity? What pastimes or hobbies do you enjoy? Do you need a substantial income, or just something to pad your account?

Starting your own business from home is an idea; think about a service or product you can offer and then set it up. It’s all about *what you love* - and then figuring out a way to get paid for it! ^_^

Poet, thats exactly the advice I give to others,no offense. But This is what I love to do.But it doesnt pay and I may not have the puter for long to begin anything on-line.It’s not mine and no way of getting one of my own.If I had $ I would buy a car first.Thats a need and a want.

Great minds think alike. ;)

Hmm…advice columnist? Maybe put together a portfolio of things you’ve written, format ‘em in ‘column’ style (check out local papers if you want a guideline) and start asking around. You could also write a book or series on life/parenting/self-improvement and start shopping that around. I’m not saying it’ll be easy, but it’ll definitely keep you occupied and purposeful. There’s a huge market for this stuff out there, and if folks like your style you could really hit it big.

Just another idea!

You could also offer your services as a parenting coach, (lord knows a lot of folks need one) but I’m not sure exactly how you’d go about doing that…you’d have to do a bit of research.

Yeah, research guess thats the next step.I have started books …not to be a pain in your neck, but I don’t even know what a Guideline is.See what I mean I’m so stupid of the ways of the world.No-one in my family has even gone to college.I’m illiteate on these things.

Analysis and research have LOTS of career applications - which may generally require some post-secondary education. You have access to the internet, obviously; so why not start Googling ‘research’ and ‘analysis’ and see what you come up with? Just to see what’s out there; and maybe it’ll spark an idea.

Journalism involves a lot of research and analysis, particularly the political and financial stuff; and doesn’t generally have any requirements beyond high school. Since you seem to enjoy writing, that’s the direction I’d point you in. Keep a dictionary handy (electronic or otherwise) and expand your vocabulary - it’s handy as a reference tool.

Learn on your own; you don’t need a degree but you do need self-discipline. Most of what college gives you is the ability to read and write in an organized, critical-thinking way…school work is mostly one essay after another, based on book research.

Oh, and a ‘guideline’ is a general rule, principle, or piece of advice. I just meant that you could use local news columns as a ‘guide’ for your own work (if journalism appeals to you). Reading helps you to learn different styles of writing, and improves your own.
