Yet another poem.
This one, my friends, is called “Can you see me?”
***
Can you see me?
Open your eyes, and take a look.
I haven’t changed.
Wipe the blood off my face,
the sand off my arms,
and you’ll see that
I haven’t changed.
Stop trying to look beyond the situation.
Because if you never face each moment directly,
only one person will suffer…
You.
But if you look at the situation,
you’ll see a whole new picture.
Think ahead, think ahead,
but also look to see how we can get there.
Because if the only way to be saved is to be seen,
then shine the light on us.
We won’t flinch in the brightness.
We’ll keep on staring.
The hardened, desperate looks in our eyes will haunt you.
But when you look back, you’ll see a whole new picture.
So see that
we haven’t changed.
And the more you ignore, the more you pretend
that it’s not happening…
the more you lose.
And the more you lose, the more you wither away.
So wither away.
I’ll watch your souls erode.
And I won’t stop asking that fateful question.
Can you see me?

Cheers!
