I think all you can do is to listen to him and encourage him to seek help. Remember you cannot save him, only he can do that but you can let him know that you love him and that you are concerned for him.

Listen, tell him you care about him, anything to keep him from doing it. Get help from a professional at the same time. DON’T LET HIM DO IT, REMIND HIM LIFE IS WORTH LIVING!!!!
