I think purposely tanning is a bad idea for numerous reasons.
1. Promotes early wrinkling of the skin.
2. Increases chances of skin cancer.
3. Vitamin-D may be good for you, but you can definitely have too much of one thing.
4. I personally find people who tan to look unnatural and strange making the women look unattractive. At least for white people. I don’t know what a Puerto Rican looks like after fake-baking (even if she is only half that), but I’m going to assume she will look orange.

no no no. Taning beds are very bad, even one session does quite a bit of damage. My mom is a doctor and she’s tried to get some tanning salons shut down in our town lol (or at least post warnings).
Trust me, you will age like hella and maybe even get a couple of those deadly moles popping up.

lol well the salon owners didn’t share that opinion :P
safe way to get a tan is to buy Dove Summer glow.
There honestly is no ’safe way’ to get a tan. You either paint yourself with orange goop or you expose yourself to seriously deadly UV radiation. Granted, there is such a thing as a natural tan, like from people who often work outdoors, but even they take precautions to avoid getting burned, which doesn’t work for tans.
Trust me, you don’t need a tan. If it’s natural because of your heritage, that’s all you need. I’m British and I simply do not tan, but I’m not worried about it. I’m not out to impress anybody, and I certainly don’t want to risk getting sick.
i personally go tanning.. starting in about april… although it is bad for ya… its something that i personally feel better doing for myself… as for the cancer… you should actually look into your family history… as cancer has a way of running through the family…. if it has occurred in more than just your mom.. then i say definitely stay away.
You are a very beautiful girl and im sure people would like you if were’nt tan but if you are single I would love to get your phone number
YOU LOOK TOTALLY AND COMPLEETELY GAY GAY GAY WHEN YOUR TAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ashley, you don’t need to go to a tanning salon. You’ve got great color the way you are. You can sun yourself, like at the beach or pool, but make sure you use at least SPF 45, apply it 30 minutes before going out, and reapply often. By doing this, you’ll still get some color, but you won’t be exposing yourself to the harmful rays. Here’s another thing for you to do: Start really looking at older women (and men) and the condition of their skin, especially if they’re tan. I spent 5 years in Germany, where tanning is like a drug to a lot of people, and I would see very pretty, tanned women who’s skin was just ruined. It’s just not worth it, especially if you’ve got such a great color as you do. Anyway, that’s my thoughts on the subject…

If there is a history of skin cancer already in your family i wouldn’t risk it and the beauty of you isnt whats outside its what your heart is like i mean you can be beautiful on the outside be a hollow lonely and very much unattractive in the inside make sure you look after your body not just the looks but also spiritually! Tanning is good for a few minutes but make sure you don;t over do it.
A small amount is beneficial.UV light does many things
that are good for the body. But this might be a few minutes
every two weeks or once a month. But looking at your picture
you don’t need any tan. You’re perfect. You can’t get any better than perfect.
I am a frequent tanner, have been for years, and the majority of my friends are .. none of us have ever encountered a problem because of it - as long as it is done safetly and in moderation. You will not go orange if you don’t get a tanning lotion with 29392 bronzers in it - SKIP THE BRONZER.. save the money, and get a lotion with nutrients in it - We have nice healthy looking tans..and i personally find it relaxing and i love it
In the spring and summer months, I like to tan, but I limit it to once a week, and sometimes only 3 times per month. It is so relaxing and I love how it makes my skin look and feel.
I do worry about skin cancer and wrinkles, but I also believe that you can enjoy all things in moderation.
I asked my dermatologist about it,and he gave me look like he wanted to stab me…ha! I said, “ok, tanning beds are bad, but it is no worse than lying by the pool or on the beach for hours.” His response was, “you are right it is no worse…they are both bad.”
Sure, UVA and UVB rays are damaging to your skin, but if it is something you enjoy and you feel good about yourself, do it…as long as you do it in moderation.
The leathery-looking skin comes from over-doing it.
Good Luck!
