My Computer is Infected, how to fix?

My computer is infected with the “W32/Swizzor-based!Maximus” virus, it was only one but now after deleting it I find 104 FILES OF IT!!!!!
They’re all in recovery areas of the computer and are all quarantined, deleting it again worries me because it may spread further more. What do I do in this case?
Antivirus can only quarantine, not disinfect =(

If your PC seems like its slowing down or having a hard time surfing the web or just doesn’t seem right.
You should go to http://download.com and get these programs. AD-Aware, Spybot search and destroy, CCleaner and and if you dont have an Antivirus program you can use Avast or AVG, and for your firewall a good program is Zone Alarm. Install these programs and run them regulary. This will keep your system clean and running properly. These programs are free and Download.com is a part of CNET (the site that your posting on right now). Hope this helps :-)

Yes they all work very well. Once you get rid of that virus you will need to install the programs listed and run them in (Safe Mode) to get out the rest of the junk that was installed while the virus was on the computer. Hope this helps :-)

When in safe mode turn off system restore before you run the programs. Remember when your finished to turn system restore back on. :-)

Swizzor is polymorphic encrypted. And the F-Prot Engine is so far the only AV Engine that detects them very successful. Swizzor-based!Maximus is the polymorphic dropper and it is safe to delete those files. Swizzor is a Trojan and NOT a virus meaning that the file itself is the malware unlike viruses that infect clean files. Delete them and you’re set. Mike (from F-Prot; i wrote the Maximus Heuristic)

For further questions you can also ask in our F-Prot Support Forum if u need help.

Oh yes, forgot one thing: DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE. Then they get deleted automatically in the system restore. After that reenable System Restore.
