Confused…

….I have been in this relationship for a year now off and on mostly on, we live together, I am 28 recently graduated from college and he is 43 factory worker. I have no children and we both are recovering addicts for two years plus now. I love him and he loves me but prior to us getting together I was in a two year relationship with plans to marry me and my current beau hooked up 4 months later and has been together since. I don’t want to be in a relationship alot of time then sometimes I do. The man that I was going to marry, I was still inlove with imensely when my current and I decided to move together at frist I didn’t love him I just enjoyed the companionship and figured it would be a rebound fling yeah right that was a year ago. He seems not to understand this and I can’t explain it because I don’t understand it most of the time my self can any HELP get me some clarity on possibly whats going on with me. I have even suggested separating and being friends for a while he is not feeling that at all. We have done that before and ended right back together!!!

I’d like to say seperations don’t have to be mutual, you may have to assert yourself and move yourself out on your ownAp. proval is helpful and mutually beneficial but isn’t a must. Please consider that.

if you’re both recovering addicts then it might be likely that this relationship you have is a codependency. it may have been ok at the time but it doesn’t work for you now… it’s ok to move on.

this may sound rude and invalid but heres what i think:
figure out who you want to be with more - the person u used to be with or the person ur with now. Make it clear to both of them what ur thinking and just say the truth…if you like the person u used to be with more, then kindly tell the person ur with now that u simply don’t want to be with him anymore or vice versa.
apologies if i misinterpreted your post and thus replied with something totally irrelevant

it is often the case with addicts who are couples that the main common interest/bond is youre drug of choice.a lot of addict couples end up splitting up when they get clean,i was lucky as me and my gf(now passed away)were together before we were addicts so we had plenty in common besides gear.anyway id just like to say WELL DONE FOR GETTING CLEAN.
