writing help: I’d like to start a career in Editing. - Help.com

I’d like to start a career in Editing.

In order to gain a certificate, I need to graduate from Uni, and the course I want to take requires a portfolio of professional writing and/or publications. I don’t have one! Anyone here a writer, or have you taken an Editing course that can offer some advice on how to get a portfolio started? what usually goes into a portfolio? Is there somewhere I can edit other people’s work to use as an example? Any insight, hints or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try working/volunteering as a copy editor or something similar at your university newspaper.
