Money help: I use to be a priest and have now left and met a wonderful woman and we are dating. - Help.com

I use to be a priest and have now left and met a wonderful woman and we are dating.

However, because I use to help so many people who came to me with financial problems, I am now in financial trouble. What do I do? I need help!

Most banks require Collateral of some sort. There are other options that are more expensive, like using your car for the loan if it is new enough and paid off. Maybe your fiance can co-sign one with you since you will be starting a life together, maybe joint effort is needed here. Make a buget and work together on it, it will work out in the end. While I am here, and you are a priest, may I ask what kind of things made you think of leaving the priesthood? And how long were you with the ministry? I am asking because I have met a priest which I am very fond of, and we have our issues too. I get mixed signals and I am not sure how to handle them myself.

I really should have never been ordained but I felt as if I was trapped. What do you do with a degree in Philosophy and Theology?!?! But when I started to get physically ill, I knew that this could kill me if I didn’t get out. I was a priest for six years. Thanks for your advice. Your last few sentences sound familiar. If you would like to chat about it - i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>. Thanks again!

I would love to talk about it. It looks like they deleted your e-mail. Mine is
i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>. Teaching would be a great start, you have so much to offer others, knowlege is never a lost subject. How about conseling or something like that. I know there is not much money in that type of field but helping others is a good feeling. I know some of priests that left in the Chicago area do some counseling and other activities still related to the Church.

Hi ghann122,
I am a woman who fell in love with a priest. He is going to quit soon. One thing he is so nervous about is being financially stable… He is considering doing CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) and being a non-denominational chaplain.

You have to go to school though. Supposedly, there is no tests but you just have to go learn how to deal with sick and dying in the hospital (you probably already did this as a priest). Here you get a $24,000 stipend while doing the residency program. I am sure it’s higher in other states with higher costs of living. I know that isn’t much, but if you have family or a girlfriend that could help you, I think it would be a wonderful choice.

Go to www dot acpe dot edu. Hope you got that ;-) You should get on the ball though, because the new residency programs start in August and there is an interview process. Best of luck!!! bianca_k87 at hotmail.
