Pre-mid life crisis?

I need a pep talk or some advice to get me out of a rut. I just quit a very high stress job, am just burnt out. My plan is to take some time off and recharge, get my house organized, focus on improving my health etc. Not going well so far. I am finding myself less motivated everyday and am losing sight of the goals i was hoping to acheive during my time off. I have only been unemployed for a week.

Take a vacation. Even a short one can help recharge your batteries.

I’m trying to be mindful of my finances, but that sure sounds good!

Not sure what your you end game strategy is…what do you want to be when you grow up lol. Seriously, get out of the house, take a trip, start an exercise routine that is new, go to a park(museum this time of year)or find something that motivates you and sparks your interest. Can you remember being a child who wanted to do great things when you got old enough to do it??? Try to spend some time reflecting on where you want to be. Life is too short for burn out…get up and run with it.

My end game strategy is that I would like to be self employed using some of my creative talents, ie. writing or photography. But like I said, I just can’t seem to take the leap of faith, though admitting here that maybe i need some help is already helping a bit.
Thanks!

Ooh, writing and photography. I like both of those too! Have you thought about doing getting something published with those? I’m not entirely sure what- but photography and writing can go together nicely. Maybe tall the history of your local area. Or go travelling and write about some aspect of that! Doesn’t have to be your career, just a productive way to use leasure time.
It’s only been a week, I think the shock of stepping back from a high-stress job has just sunk in and you’re feeling ‘un-motivated’ when perhaps what you REALLY feel is un-stressed! Give yourself time to adgust before beating yourself up again.

Defining where and how are your biggest challenges, the two areas you mentioned are hard to start up, financially that is. It takes time to get the client base up and running. Some of those that I know have had some success by dropping in on other photo events, online posting, art/photography show and trying to network. Others found mentors who had contacts and helped them to get started. Hopefully you have the time and finances to hit the road with traction? Just remember…nothing happens overnight, maybe you can find a part time gig with another Photographer or on an editorial staff of the type and kind of writing you would like to pursue. Dont ever give into not attaining your dream…therefore, dream big!!!

I would love to get something published, and yes I think I have yet to learn how to relax lol. I’m off to go do some thinking, thanks for your support.

Just an update, things are pickin back up for me. I have had a chance to relax and recharge. I’ve decided to take another week or two off and focus on my writing, and take in the nicer than usual weather and have fun taking some photos. Once I am back on the job hunt, I will be looking for something that will give me some experience in my areas of interest.

Thanks again for your help :)
