Two explorer.exe’s Running?

Hey All i have a computer problem.

AMD FX-74
320 HDD
1GB RAM
Windows XP - Pro Ed (SP2 Build 2600)

Not sure what causes this but when i randomly check my taskmgr i see two explorer.exe (not iexplorer.exe) one uses about 20k while the other one uses 5-6k or memory.

P.S. I have no clue what i have done in the past long months, I just never decided to take action towards these explorer’s.

As well, my taskbar takes ages to load… After system boots and everything is fine, my taskbar still has the hour glass when i mouse over it, after about 2 minutes it’s fully loaded… pretty weird.

What I have done so far:
- NOD32 in depth scan (Safe Mode + Normal System)
- ASO Registery Cleaner - Fixer…
- Removed all startup programs
- Searched for “explorer.exe” (but found zero explorer.exe except the my documents opener)

Am willing to take screen shot and send for further information.

This is normal. I also have two… one is for 64 bit and one is for 32 bit. the one in the syswow64 folder location (right click process and go to properties) is the 32 bit one. That folder is for 32 bit OS files… dont ask me why its labeled with 64…

http://searchwincomputing.techtarget….

If it loads it will explain what I just said.

Sorry for the half assed explanation.

I did however, end the 32 bit one ( in the syswow64 folder) and Vista continued to run fine. *End process tree* not just the process.

however, I havent attempted using any 32 bit apps yet. So this may be necessary for the time being while most apps still run in 86x(32-bit) Havent tested…

This will most likely fix your multiple explorer’s running problem.
1. Double-Click on “My Computer”
2. Click “Tools” — “Folder Options”
3. Click the | View | tab
4. Un-check [ ] Launch Folder Windows in a separate process
5. Click [OK]
Cheers,
