“if you change your thinking, you can change your life”

this itty bitty phrase.. has helped me through SO much.. its unbelievable.. if you force yourself to think you feel how you want to.. its possible to set things aside.. to not get so worked up over conflicts.. to not get so stressed or hurt.. if you think your happy and OK in the worse situation.. you can be.. I use to have really bad anxiety attacks.. and after learning this and understanding it.. Ive learned to control them better than I ever have..

I realized when I had my anxiety attacks, I was thinking to myself “it was the end of the world”, “I cant get through this,” a lot of negative stuff =/ but now that i force myself to think “hey! its not the end of the world, your not dying!!,” or just “I can get through this”

it probably sounds easier than it is =P but it took me a long time to catch on.. its hard to force yourself to think “what should be thought” or the “normal thing to think” when your not use to doing it.. when your use to breaking down and not being able to handle any stressful situation..

ive also used this phrase even with my husband =) .. and it helps him a lot at work.. and with me =P

“We all create our own Universe around us. This starts with a feeling or a thought. Our feelings and thoughts create words, and our words create ACTIONS. Our actions are thoughts made manifest and the creation of our world. Think about it. NOTHING you do today will be brought about without you first thinking about it. Oh, I know some of you tricky ones out there will say, “my heart beats without me thinking about it”. That’s very true, it does and is designed to do just that. But have you ever tried to slow down the beating of your heart? Have you ever run a hot and heavy race and tried to slow down your breathing and heart rate? Of course you have, AND you have been successful in doing so. You mind, your thought can and does control your heart rate… your breathing on a daily basis.” - Richard Cor De Lyon-

I really believe that you are right. I went through some things and then started doing self affirmations in the mirror each day, it took awhile, but I started to believe what I was telling myself and my life took a turn for the better.

thats very true, alot of how we feel depends on our thinking. to me its sorta like playing the same tape over and over again in your brain. sometimes we need to hit the eject or record button to start a new thought processing but it can be hard for the grooves or tracks can be deeply inset into our mind or we can get into circular thinking. the thought of patterns has been coming to me lately on this subject, changing my thought patterns makes new tracks to think on.

sounds great, and I am glad it helped you! I am a big believer in the power of thought and how thought create actions. We are all manifestations of our minds.

How do you know? Or do you remember that you forgot to remember it,when you remember it, before forgetting it again?

I am loving all these positive post today. I do live this way. Like you said it is hard at first but once you work on it, it becomes your natural thought process. Many years ago a wonder Reverend I knew mentions that she challenged herself to not have any negative thoughts. This was her Lent challenge. So I made a conscious effort to do this. I am so thankful for her and the part she played in my life. Thanks for this post and making me think about her.

But what about the times when you are stuck, and even though you know if you change your thinking your life will change, but you appear to have paralyzed thoughts that are keeping you in a funk?

Some times our brain chemistry makes us unable to to control our thoughts. In this case you might want to consider medication. Once your brain is working correctly and you work on positive thinking, your brain will make the new connections it needs too. Then you can get off the medications and these new pathways of thoughts you have been working on, will now work for you (without meds).
Does that make since to you. Our brain is a organ just like any other part of our body. When it is not working correctly you have to get it fix. I am reading a book called Change your Brain, Change your Life by Dr. Amen. It shows through brain imaging how different parts of the brain functions while depressed. How they work with the medication and how they work after. Pretty amazing stuff, you might want to read it. I know their is going to be a PBS special on it soon. I will definitely be letting everyone now when it airs.
