What activities/exercises can help me lose weight?
I refer specifically the fat from the belly and chest regions. This year, I’m trying to get down to 12.5 stones (175 lbs), which is right at the upper end of the ‘healthy’ range for my height (5′11″). I’ve already discovered that a simple change in my diet (Not eating so much junk food!) has brought me from above 205 lbs to just under 200 lbs since the beginning of the year, but the rate of loss has been falling slowly. I think that I need to add more physical exercise. As it is, I play racquetball (but not enough, because it’s hard for me to find opponents) and occasionally play Dance Dance Revolution (to the point where I’m sweating - not just nansy-pansy type stuff!) I do have access to exercise equipment - weights, machines, treadmills, and so forth - as well as sports equipment (as long as the jerk coach isn’t there at the time!). I go back to university on Saturday (we’re on break right now.) What’s a fun and effective way to lose some weight?

hey im about 6′7 and weighed 280, i dropped down to 225, and then built myself back up as i wanted. Running is ur best way, and use light weights if weight training. Another great way is use a weighted vest when ur active, it tricks the body into thinking your heavier and u burn more fat. Building muscle burns weight too. If you can get 10-15 pound weights start doing flys, you can do them while laying on the ground, push ups also work the chest, arms and abbs.Crunches always are important too.

That’s a great idea - I do like activities where I can get other people involved and have a good time :)

That’s a terrific idea - I’ll definitely use that one!

Okay, here’s where I’m new on the subject - what exactly are flys? Thanks for your help!
do an internet search - there’s PLENTY of information out there on this topic.
lying on ur back make your body like a capital T with arms out to the side, slightly bend your elbow and then bring ur arms together over your chest, as if you were flapping wings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQAh7m… . I like this guy alot, and he’s got a site, and videos, and u can do all the things he does, at your own pace, and you own comfortable weights.

That’s certainly very true, but I don’t trust it for the personalized help that awesome people like soundmeetssound can provide! :) Speaking of which, thanks for the youtube link!
BHM86, I’ll give that a try, too - and thanks for the info about it taking a bit. I honestly think I have the world’s slowest metabolism!
You can only lose weight uniformly. Walking is the best exercise for losing fat and ensure that your diet does not include any high calorie foods. Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://www.toloseweight.org/weightlos…
Swimming is always great for weight lose! But make sure you dont pig out afterwards because swimming also makes you hungry!
You can’t target fat in a specific area, it gets burnt uniformly. Going for a 20 to 40 minute aerobic workout first thing in the morning is supposed to burn fat. Of all the activities, cross country skiing is the best for burning fat and building aerobic fitness. Some of the activities mentioned above are really good too though. Running is the most practical, and swimming is another really good way to get a good workout.
Even though you can’t burn fat specifically, you can tone muscle groups in some areas. Get someone to show you bridges and other good abdominal toning exercises. Situps and crunches will make your belly stick out, you want to tone more the transverse abdominals and obliques, These can be done with pushups, bridges, side bridges, and some other exercises.
also almost every major aerobic excercise will tone up your abdominals, so they don’t need that much attention.
here are some information which would help you

Hi there nylons162, Justin is my name and I may have an exciting way for you to lose weight this year. From as little as $2 per day or as much as $12 per day we could have you on a fast track to much better health. Here’s my story. I am a butcher by trade, I live in Australia and 3 years ago suffered a career ending back injury, no more butchering. Pain and suffering, back pain along with bouts of depression and anxiety controlled my life and my weight, I went from a fit 95kg and 6ft tall to 6ft tall and 120kg within 6months. A career change catapalted my life in a bold and exciting new direction. Myself and my wife decided to join forces and sell weight loss products, to be really sure about these products our sponsor suggestd me to use them for 1 month in which was actually included in the startup price of our new buisness, under $500 to start. 3 months later, or today, I have gone from 120kg to now 107kg and counting. Very little excercise due to my back condition has not slowed me up. I simply stuck to it and eat sensibly and the results have spoken for themselves.
If you are at all interested you can visit our website www.getupgetslim.com
or call 0354971050 at home, (Australia dont forget) we can post, no problems at a reasonable price. If you would like to see some before and after photos of me
let me know and I can email them out to you. Some people need proof and thats
very understandable. A good way to get motivated is to have a freind or relative
do the same as you and compete, or compare results weekly. Oh I have a moblie phone
also 0400901220.
thanks for you time
regards Justin
Reduce your junk food intake and stick to wholesome foods such as fruits and vegetables. Imagine your body as the machine to burn your weight and actually perform the workouts.
Do not plan dieting because it is not a solution for a longer duration. You can easily feel tired by following a particular diet pattern for a shorter duration. It reduces your rate of metabolism by draining away the water content and retaining the fat content.
Schedule an exercise program almost daily and gradually increase your workout. Reduce one spicy meal in a week and work towards healthy meal consumption. SQUATS< RUNNING< SWIMMING would help you

Hope you are still there. Surprisingly, my story is just like yours. The numbers are exact. I just tried on clothing and voila, I look much better with no significant decrease in numbers. Building “female” muscles, toning and loosing fat. Check yourself good. Look at those little areas where some of the unwanted body weight has dissappeared and smile….
I am a female, perhaps a bit older than yourself. Age plays an important role in weight loss as most people require fewer calories daily as we age. This sparked a new plan for me recently but I still smile as I learn more. BE ACTIVE and do areobics. My goal initially was to build muscle, tone and loose fat (weight). I talk to many guys who have body-builder bodies. They are around me everyday and some over 50 have the most beautiful skin, smiles and look very good. I mentioned the older ones because they have worked out for over 20 years. It is worth your time. YOUR ARE PROBABLY BUILDING MUSCLE WHICH IS A TERIFFIC THING. I felt the same way you described which is why I am online now. My goal is to get to 175lbs by June 2008. I eat high protein, high fiber “diet” LIFESTYLE. I am not on a diet. Just a few protein shakes, I read labels and incorportate alot of the right fruits and vegetables. I have done this before, and just lost weight. This looks better and I love the healthy side of it. I have learned much about my body and made the decision to do a little body scuplting (it works well for women). I had a personal trainer.. honey the pounds shed really fast in no time. She came to my home just one hour twice a month. It was worth it. I am changing my lifestyle. To increase your weight loss, I would suggest aerobic which I have read is the best “fat” reducer. Accept that the body has it’s own plan which is to fight after about 20lbs of weight loss. Win the fight by sticking to your new lifestyle and accepting how your body is functioning even if you do not fully understand. Don’t stop feeling good about your goals and the intelligent decision you have made to treat your body like a precious jewel. Weight loss increases self-esteem, improves your health and gives you the RIGHT shaped body. I read online daily to help me understand. What I have read is true.. it works… be active, smile, do other things to keep your spirits up and eat right. You will think clearer, breathe easier and looking back… you’ll be glad that you made this decision. I have been working out for about 15 years and gained the weight back when I “assumed” that this was a diet and I could eat anything after loosing the weight. I will never stop keeping my body healthy.
