Need to move but immobilized by a bad decision.

I need to get advice from someone who has experienced this type of situation. I moved to Philadelphia several months ago and ran into hard times. The person that lured me in a since out here to live with them was supposedly a friend for 15 years or so and moved out after I helped him monetarily. He left me stuck without my name on the lease yet the landlord has been receiving my monies since that time the hard times have gotten harder and now I am faced with being thrown out to the streets because I am not legally bound to the contract though my name is registered as the one paying the utilities and all receipts are signed by the landlord from our monetary transaction for the last 6 months. If you have any advice which could help me and soothe my concious please respond.

Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful - http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html
