Is It healthy to talk to yourself?

Everyday I notice more how much I have conversations with myself. Not just in my head but out loud too. The odd part is that “I’m'’ always listening and I sometimes solve my problems by doing this. Its just problems neither. If Im happy, sad, angry, anything! I always find myself in a conversation with myself. It scares me because I get looks from others so I had to buy one of these Bluetooth earpieces even though I don’t have a bluetooth-compatible cell phone. Am I schizophrenic? Do I need to see a shrink?

me, too. Sometimes we need to have conversation with ourselves. Sometimes our friends or parents are just not the right helper.therefore, we can always talk to ourselves.

well if it helps you with your problems then thats a good thing, but maybe you should try and keep the conversations in your head, if you want people to stop staring

I talk to myself all the time. ^_^
If you can’t control the talking to yourself, it might be a bit of a problem; but if it’s just something that you do, then just go with it.
If you’re really concerned, you could always just speak to a counsellor and get their professional opinion :)

Yes! I do that too… in my car, while I am walking somewhere, before I go to sleep, at my computer screen… LOL! I’ve gotten some odd glances from time to time myself. Sure it has shut me up quickly, but nevertheless I think it is very helpful and healthy to hear yourself talking. I have a friend who is a language professor and I often catch her speaking to herself. She always apologizes, but I say, “No, no apology necessary! Please go on and don’t let me interrupt you!” I think this helps her prepare for lecture and I have found that as a shy person it helps me to prepare for something I might want to talk about with someone in the future. :)
