Love help: Missionary Field - Help.com

Missionary Field

Hi! I really need help. This post is for “believers” only for I do want someone who has read the word of God and has his Spirit for the subject is about spiritual service and not a secular one.

I am an LDS and expected to be a missionary. It’s for two years. However, I am deeply in love with my girlfriend, and I don’t want to leave her behind. I am afraid that she’ll be alone and I am not there for her.

On the other hand, serving the Lord has so much blessings, that sharing the gospel with others if they would open their doors would open the door of salvation, joy, and peace of mind for them. They would know the Lord and his commandment and his love and his power of redemption for their sins.

In Sunday School, my teacher taught me that the most important in life is becoming in a good father and a good husband. I do agree. So I am thinking of being with my girlfriend and being the best father and husband I could be.

I don’t know what to do at this point. I just want to do what’s right.

Thank you!

To start with let me say, I’ll pray for you.

I think the answer to that is to pray and seek guidance from the Lord.

Are others pressuring you to go into Missionary work?

Your service to the Lord is between the two of you, only you can know his will for your life.

if you believe in your religion and have faith then you should do what it tells you.
doesn’t the bible say to put god at the very pinnacle of your life and all others things second. if your love between you and this girl is real then it will last longer than two years and will sustain through your service.

you are a wonderful young man, your family should be very proud of you.
look at it this way, god brought you and your girl together and he is directing your path. just relax and let god, he will give you all the answers you need have faith and believe he is the captain of you ship. if he wants you 2 to be together, his will, will be done. god bless

She’s not a member but she believes in the Lord. She just finds Church boring so she doesn’t go. Thank you so much. I will pray and see what God wants me to do. I do love her and she loves me but I just don’t want to be very far from her; she’ll be alone if I go but I will pray for her and she for me.

I am not a LDS but one of my sons is. He went on his mission to Africa a few years ago. He was in the same possition you, after the two years were up he came back and found out that both he and his girl were even more in love than when he went on his mission. It also gave him much joy when on his mission, the joy he found in truly helping other people and the things he learned about life, his faith and the love he found through being on his mission.
Just go out there and enjoy it all, it will probbably only happen once in you lifetime, make the most of this opportunity.

My first reaction would be to advise you to go because obedience is what God wants more than success. And we are to sacrifice for him and take the road less traveled. You probably know all this already, but I’m just trying to put it in perspective for you. All points to ‘you should go’ especially since it will only be for 2 yrs.of your life.If you live to be 100, what is 2 yrs of sacrifice. I can see how hard this is for you.It would be for me too if I had to leave behind family. But if you do decide to go,put her in Gods hands, this way you know she will not be alone. Also relationships can survive long-distance.What I like to go by is ‘Will I regret it if I don’t do this or that and if the answer is yes, then you may have your answer. If something does happen and your not there? Sometimes we can be so close in proximity and still not be able to prevent or help . On the other hand, Being a husband and father may be what he wants for you.Ask him what is his will ,he may already be telling you,so listen carefully and maybe the power of intercession prayer.,If it hasn’t already been done. Fizz is right about the pressure,so don’t rule that out.I truly hope this helps you Warren.May God Bless and keep you safe in whatever your endeavors may be.:)

God bless you Wren….sounds like you got some good solid advice above, and I am in agreement with what has been said.

Prayer is the key, and fasting always helps when facing a major decision.
Once we come into the family of God, he becomes our director.
Sometimes it is very difficult to know his will.
Sometimes we make mistakes.

If we can find his perfect will for our lives, we find our greatest happiness.
This does not remove us from difficulties, but, it makes them more bearable.
and our joy is greater.
It takes time and effort to find the mind of the Lord, concerning any certain
thing, but, he is faithful. He will meet us at our point of need, and he will respond, if we keep seeking. He understands our frailties. It is best to come with an open heart and mind, ready and willing to follow as he directs. He is more than willing to confirm his will. So, don’t hesitate to ask.

Asking for prayer is very helpful in finding direction. However, the ones doing the praying have to be willing to pray with an open mind, willing to receive what God shares. If we go to God with our minds already made up, he will not override our wills. To get his will, we have to come with none of our own.

Here are a couple of very good prayer sites, that will truly pray with an open mind.

wjcr.org click on prayer, they will not respond, but, they will pray.

Thanks all of you! I do have problem adhering to the will of God. I do need to seek more diligently but the business of life is keeping me from it.

I am so very frail in the spirit neither do I have companion of the Spirit. Thank you so much for you good souls and hopefull I can manage my time more efficiently to ponder and seek for what God’s answers to my questions are.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

This has been such an issue for me, It is my first time understanding what sacrifice really is…I have wanted to serve, mainly because I always felt alone. Then a change happened, I became more social, fell in love, and thought about military life….Then remembering God, The Church, and The Mission…I had to rethink my choices………………………….

Well, I’m just a grain of sand among others in the shore…hopefully I can make a difference…just like you guys do!

Yes, Wren, you absolutely sure can. Jesus was only one man, but, he turned the world upside down, and he said that we would do greater works than he did. so, you have much to look forward to. However, the cares of this world will pull you away from the things of God. you have to make time for him, and put him #1 on the agenda. He said, if we put him first, he would add everything else.

You mention wanting to be filled with the Holy Spirit, here is a prayer link, that I use often, you can click on prayer, and send your request, you will not hear back from them but they will pray.
