Should I feel bad for accepting this money from him?

My brother (11 yrs.) has asked me to do a few chores for him (draw him some incredible things, closet work, etc.) and in exchange he’ll give me 6 dollars. He has 70 left, so he says, and it was all of his birthday money (he had SO much more) that he has left. Should I not accept this and just do them as things a sister should do for their brother? I need 6 dollars to buy something, but if it means taking what I shouldn’t I won’t ask for it. Would YOU do it if he was totally willing to give it? :)

It might actually make him feel bad if you didn’t. I say take it graciously and thank him for it, then throw in a freebie of some sort to go along with it to make sure he got his six dollars worth.

I agree he may feel happy to give you the money, like he is spending it in the right ways.

If you need the money, you can tell him why you need it and that is why you are taking it

Exactly. If you refused the money, he might take it the wrong way and think he’s done something wrong by offering his birthday money to his big sister.

Also, remember that his money is part of his gift, so by paying you for something, he’s just using it for his present, which is really very sweet when you think about it. He sounds like a cooler younger brother. I hope to have a son like that some day!
