greatings are always a good start. Just a simple hello or how are you doing.
People will actually nitice you if you tell them hi anyway you can always ask people question they will talk to you though if you tell them story or things you think is funny

Being a good conversationalist is like learning a new language - someone can tell you all of the words and sentences you will need to know, but you’ll never be good at it until you’ve got some practice.
I agree with civilism that greetings are a good start, questions often beg conversation, and funny stories are nice. In fact, I’m sure people on this site could give you 100 good ways to start a conversation. However, no matter how good or bad it is, it is likely to feel awkward until you’ve gotten used to it.
My advice - Take any approach that sounds good and just go talk to people about anything on a regular basis. You’ll feel uncomfortable at the beginning, but with practice you will start to get a natural feel for what is most appropriate to say when.
