Life is funny sometimes

Things flip upside down

you lose a home

relive your past

find some part of you in something seemingly simple.

life is a game.

sometimes its a turn based game

sometimes a first person shooter.

but the funnest parallel I can think of is a mmorpg

everyone plays a role.

spending their time building up status and inventory.

fighting small battles here and there

wandering around, collecting particles of life

using things, taking away their purpose

emptying them of any real use.

cryptic clues, random nudges from an outside source,

just to keep us interested.

I played runescape one day. My ten-year-old nephew (who had played for months) showed me it. I walked around and many people tried to give me armor and weapons, but I didn’t want them. What can you do with them other than fight? I went on one quest (the rune mysteries quest, to learn how to mine the rune essence and craft my own runes), walked around some more. Someone said, “free beer!” so I accepted the beer and gave her a diamond. Then I set the beers around and people drank them. More things like this happened and I never played again.
