I would say it’s a reaction to fear.
The body very often tries to move in the opposite direction of
a stress.
this is why depressing drugs such as alcohol initially give you a good feeling
but later on make you depressed.
So your body is experiencing fear and the natural reaction
to this is to try to send a protective signaling device
that you can pay attention to.
