why as people black and white discriminate against one another. some say we are two different people because of the color of our skin. How can that be we are all people
created just the same. Now the history of our race may differ but still why dont understand that the decisions of the past affect us now here in the future

as a black woman i aften find my self looked down upon because of the color of my skin. there is no superior race in mine eyes. All man are created equal in the sight of gods eye, but man sees for him self. I am not racist and do not believe all white or black people are racist by sight but by foul action. i actually feel pitty on my race for they have fallen by the waist side of this racist mentality. they have began to believe the lies that were told to their ancestors who were held in captivity. Why when clearly it has been proven wrong. we have this thing called freedom and no ones holding us back but the state of mind and the cycle we have failed to break

my only problem with black people are a few individuals who pretend to speak for all black people (Sharpton and Jackson). Sharpton in particular bothers me because of his Antisemitism. I don’t understand why black people have “black” fraternities. The only all “white” fraternity I can think of is the KKK. You don’t see “White Entertainment” channels. I think some black people latch on to past wrongs against their race. But I have personally only met a few dozen black people. All of them were nice people and I have nothing negative to say. Personally, i think its dumb to make assumptions about someone because of their skin color. By the way, I truly despise racists, and I’ve never met a black racist, only white ones.

also, it irritates me when white people think that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson represent all black people. There might be that perception, but I don’t recall either reverand saying that they represent all black people, so I may have mispoke. But I think it’s sad that supposed “black leaders” use terms like “cracker” or “thieving Jew.” How far we have fallen from the days of MLK.

i wouldnt call it a faternity, but think about it go out into your black communities what do you see… poverty, murder, crime. there has been no orginization that i know of that has promoted this but the bloods and crips. If any thing i would say they are to help and keep us moving forward instead of back. people like MLK or jessie jackson fought hard to give black people the right to be equipped with knowlede and respect as a human being. If any thing these “faternities” are trieng to get the naive young black people of today to see that how can you compare that to the kkk?

natmit1, your question runs deep into the fiber of our country, but it’s not just here in the US, the sediments of different races exists all over the world. History should teach all that we as a specis are persuded by selfish ambitions and categorations of other people. Differences create fear, these should make us seek to understand and thereby gain the synergy, but we don’t. Age old question of why?It is not just race that shows it’s ugly head, you can say stuff like “redneck”, “yankee” and the like a stir up just as much repulse from the opposite party. Man has always hated each other for whatever reason they could muster up, usally unfounded and definetly without any thought of why.

i just think its sad that the people of the race are dwelling on the past mistakes of others instead of correcting them and proving them wrong with education of the past and correcting those mistakes here in the present and the future some never learned in the first place thats the problem

earlier i mentioned black fraternities with the kkk. ive never heard of a hate-oriented black fraternity, so i dont mean to compare the two. but ask yourself what would happen if someone opened a “white fraternity” that celebrated “white culture” and “white heritage.” it would be considered racist.

you may notice that i am from South Dakota, so we don’t experience racism like what takes place in the south. but i do think that actions of black leaders today is inflammatory at times. you cant preach equality among all people and turn around and exclude people based on race and religion.

so-called “black problems” have to do with economic and social issues, not anything ingrained in genetics like racists and hate-mongers believe. put anyone in a situation with low-paying jobs, poor education, and violence and their chances of failure are higher. these are the situations many black people find themselves in. many work there way out of the situation through talent and energy, but for others the limited access to good primary education and the financial restrictions from secondary education keep them in a cycle of poverty. add to that the problems posed by drugs and gangs and you have a recipe for an unbreaking cycle. just my opinion, but i think jesse jackson and al sharpton are counterproductive in this day and age. people in poverty (white or black) need to be empowered, not entitled.

Nat, You said “If any thing these “faternities” are trieng to get the naive young black people of today to see that how can you compare that to the kkk?”

You are correct that a ‘black’ frat house has a totally different agenda that the kkk has. But im inclined to agree with dupes on this one. Dupes wasnt refering to either groups agenda. Dupes was making a valid point. Let me see if I understood that point.

As long as there is seperation between races, I.E. All black fraternaties or the kkk there will be racism. Regardless of thier agenda, they still seperate us as people by the color of our skin. Or, in either case, our heritage. The fact is, as long as there is a word in our vocabulary that defines “Racism,” it ensures its presence in our society.

By the way Nat, I love that you posted this. I agree that it is still an issue. More so in some areas than others, but a challenge we face daily. It is my hope that conversations like this one will wake up those that need to open thier eyes and praise those that see clearly! :-)

Cool! Happy to help. Something I learned the hard way Dupes. Keep it simple when expressing opinions on topics of this magnitude. Its easy for someone to pick apart your words and attempt to use them against you. Or take something you say out of the context it was said in to distort its intention. The simple solution is to use as few words as possible to get the point across. You just have to choose them carefuly.

Please dont think Im criticizing, Im not. You are quite intelligent. Im merely trying to share my experiences in the hopes that one can learn vicariously.
