Hello my name is Jeff Harrison.I am currently attending college at Cincinnati State.

My major is business management. I am also working on a direct selling business in order to build fund toward my final goal. The issue I am having is I’m about to be homeless. My job barley pays me enough to fill up on gas and eat. I have tried many different ways to earn extra money but it seems to all blow up in my face. I’m also incredibly close to getting my business off the ground which will sell new edged electronics. This like my other issues goes back to money. I am lacking the funds to go about this at all and have been turned down by multiple credit cards and loan agencies. Also finical aid was set up to help keep students head above water in these dire situation but like most government programs I’ve used it dose not give sufficient help. I read that student finical aid was made to help in tuition, books, living expenses, computers, etc. the issue is that they will only give me one thousand dollars each term every three to four months to pay for all expenses. In all reality I end up owing by the time it’s all said and done. So I am pleading if there is anyone who can help me and prevent me from losing a roof, food, and possible be forced to drop out just to provide the essentials needed to survive. Pleases if anyone reading this can help I would be very appreciative. Thank you for taking the time to read this thanks again Jeff Harrison

doesn’t it just make you sick! i am in college too and so, so poor. i am totally maxed out on the loans, etc…going into extreme debt to get a degree. (my friend, who has no college degree just got hired at a bank in their tech dept making $83k to start. my other friend who is a nurse and has a BSN is making about $30K and his parents paid for his college expenses). maybe what we need(ed) was parents that help(ed) us. i feel like sending a message to the people of the world not to procreate unless they can really financially help their offspring not have to beg for money on help.com. i wish i could help you jeff harrison. try not to panic. i recently filled out a form at my school requesting more money. they wanted documentation of rent, etc. the after about a month they gave me a measly $700 more. i guess college students really DO live on crackers and ramen.

I use to live with college kids.

Housing is expensive, but most of my old roommates said that if you live in a group house, the cost goes down. I think I spent $500/mo on rent and utilities when I lived with them.

Most of my roommates also had jobs along with going to school and getting financial aid. We also found that if you contact your local government sometimes based on earning minimum wage at a part time job they will help pay for utilities…

In life you either pay through school or experience…I didn’t go to college and I make more than most of the people I know, along with having a great benefits package. I did however work in this field for about 6 years.

No guarantees in your education. After you hit 18 years old you are on your own, you know when children mouth, “I am 18 you can not tell me what to do!!!” Well got news for ya, you can say that when you are paying the bills. I worked my way through college. No grants, no loans, straight cash on the barrel head. Took me about a year longer, but guess what my degree was my degree, not the loan company’s. If I can do it so can you, you cry baby’s.

P.S.
I ate and slept well as well because I was not in a big a**ed rush. Why do both of you feel people and parents owe it to you’s?

Oi Anon. I didn’t GO TO COLLEGE, and I don’t feel like my parents owe me more than, possibly love and consideration when I want to talk to them.

If you are only applying with the FAFSA there is another option with Cincinnati State. They have a seperate scholarship application form. Go to the office of Fin aid office tomarow and fill it out. Last year the deadline was somewhere in march so it could have been the 1st or 31st for all I know.

Go online and see what’s available for Federal Work Study. It’s $8 an hour and at school most of the time so check that out.

Talk to your Co-op coordinater.

Order your Textbooks though Ohio Link or the Cincinnati Public Library.

Buy your books on half.com to save a great deal of money.

Sell your car and buy a bus pass.

If you are eating out, stop.

Move back home if you are not living there already.

Unplug all things that use electricity.
Then, plan so you can get along without a fridge.

You only need to use a computer for school and Cincinnati State provides them in the open lab on the 3rd floor of the ATLC building.

You might be able to save on water by taking your showers at the fitness center.

Mooch food off your classmates.

Since when is name calling allowed or are you one of those special someones that can start things then back out? If stating, that to be independent you pay the bills then yes I am a coward? If stating I did it on my own then I am a coward? I think the name calling is on you magickmuffin being as statement of fact is name calling.

Anon, there is something else that I did about textbooks. I had a faculty that I made friends with and they eventually became a mentor. What the Faculty did was get in contact with other faculty in the courses I was taking and find out if they had the current book being used in such and such a class and if they could get me a copy to use and keep. A lot of the books were brand new, never been opened or cracked open.
