I have had an abortion.

Will God forgive me?

God’s plan for your life always includes redemption. He longs to forgive you for all of your sins, including abortion. Sin separates you from God and needs to be confessed to Him. He will always forgive a repentant heart.

While God does forgive, abortion carries so much guilt that it is difficult to feel forgiven. It is an oppressive weight that Satan uses at every turn to discourage believers struggling under its burden. (See the question, “How can I have power over Satan?”) God offers peace, joy, and most of all, forgiveness. He doesn’t say, “You are forgiven if you feel forgiven.” He says, “You are forgiven.” It is something you have to believe and receive. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy” (Micah 7:18).

It takes real faith to believe in that type of forgiveness.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” (Ps. 103:12).

“I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee” (Is. 44:22).

“Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage?” (Mic. 7:18).

“And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more” (Heb 10:17).

I had an abortion when I was 18. I do not feel guilt because I have forgiven myself. My beliefs may be different than yours but I believe God works through us. So if I forgive myself God has forgiven me.

I was 7 weeks along when I had mine. I do not see it as a baby yet. I know many people argue this and I will not argue with anyone because they have a right to their opinion and I have a right to mine.

Here is a poem I wrote about it years ago.

The child that never was

What would my life be if you were a child?

Would I have went to school?

Would I have left the man who would of been your father?

Would I have met my husband?

Would I have my children?

Would I have found GOD?

I am thankful you were never a child.

For If you were, I would not have had my life.

I hope this helps in some way. It may seem selfish to some people and that is ok. Others will understand and know.

Agreed..if you ask for forgiven, it is done…so many young people are guilt-ridden about an abortion and they should not be….They can be forgiven…so many people have this mind-set that Christians are perfect and far from it..Jesus saw our weakness and this why he came back to Earth and died for people’s sin. Thank goodness for the New Testament.

All is forgiven… when you can you forgive yourself. God endowed us all with free will; but when do we begin? At the moment of conception, birth or somewhere in between? The truth is we can not know, but God does. The termination of a pregnancy is not the termination of a Soul. Just like when you or I die it will not be the end of us. Have faith that you are forgiven; allow yourself to accept that forgivness and take steps to insure you never have to subject yourself to anything like this again. Peace and blessings… :-]

Everyone has their outlook on life. Your outlook is respected. Certainly not here too judge, just saying what I believe to be true!

i had an abortion when i was 13, i know some people believe abortions to be wrong, but not one person on this planet can have a negitive oppinion on this subject untill they are faced with that decision!! i had to make this decision and go through it all on my own, it is something that you can forgive yourself for but something that will never leave you.
if i had, had the baby it would be 10 years old by now… only 3 years untill it would have been the same age i was when it was conceved!!! really scary!! i dont

believe in god…. where was he when i needed him eh?….

hippiehol, God is always there for you and will always be when you’re ready to go back to Him :) I’m not judging in any way or saying I know anything about your life, but as a person whose been through quite a bit myself, all I can say is that I think that if we continue to go down a dark path and push God out of our lives, He will politely oblige and step aside. But i’ve gone back, and I can say its the best choice i’ve ever made!
All the best :)
