Level help: is the IQ level 109 low for a 16 year old? - Help.com

I am a teacher and I know IQ is not the only valid measurement of intelligence, 109 is considered above average.
This can be changed for the better or worse.
remember there is a thin line between brilliance and madness.

Yeah, most IQ tests put the standard at around 100 for adults.
However, most IQ tests also test catagories of mental capacity that are nearly arbitrary in consideration of what can be useful in real life.
This is how I see it-
If your mind is capable enough to let you enjoy life on a regular basis, then you probably have all you need, right?

no 100 is average. 109 is slightly above average

The average for 16year olds is 113 plus or minus 10 points. So you are in the range of average.

The average range will actually vary depending on which IQ test you are using. Which test did you take?

If i were you i wouldnt put too much emphasis on IQ scores.

My friend has a low IQ score and is doing her Masters in Psychology.

My friend is a doctor and her IQ is 103.

IQ isnt just about intellegence though. Its about perception and ability to percieve.

Like, an autistic person would probably take an IQ test and score really low. But if you know a person with autism-you could only dream of knowledge that they have.

So although little quizzes are pretty cool and fun to do. I wouldnt take them literally. :)
