Vicodin doesn’t work on everyone, I know it didn’t work as pain reliever on me…contact your doctor and tell them you need better medication.

I also had my gullbladder out on Monday 5 days ago, I had the same pain you are describing, the shoulder pain was so extreme i couldn’t move, I was told by my Dr. that it is gas, that during the surgery they pump your stomach up with air and unfortunetly gas settles in your chest and shoulders, what worked for me is to walk ALOT, and drink alot of Carbonated soft drinks. as for the pain they gave me Lortab, it helps alot. Good Luck and I wish you the best.

I had an ERCP to remove a lodged gall stone from my bile duct. The next day I had my gall bladder removed. It has been 9 days since the surgery and I am still having severe pain in my right shoulder and lower right quadrent of my abdomen. The pressure at times feels like something is going to bust out of my skin on the extreme right side of my abdomen area. I went to my Dr. yesterday and was told that in 15 yrs of being a Dr. he has not seen such severe pain. I had a CT scan and he said that the fluid around my liver and appendix is what is causing my pain and that the pain is reinating into my shoulder, but is actually occurring in the belly. He bumped me to Mepregan pain RX and a small dose of Valum. Today, aside from sleeping alot, I still had the pain while I was awake. All the meds do is knock me out. The Dr. did mention that they can asperate the fluid using a needle and going theu the abdomen and into the organ and pulling the fluid out. After he saw how much fluid was there he said that it wasn’t a huge amount and he would rather me go home with stronger meds and give it a few more days. I need to be back at work, but this pain is horrible. I don’t know what to do at this point. Just thought I would share so if someone out there is going thru the smae thing….you are not alone!!!!!!!!

Hi i had my gallbladder out two weeks ago and although i am doing quite well most days, yesterday i had the most awful shoulder pain again just like the first two days after surgery. No pain killers helped just had to ride it out. Never want a night like that again. Spoke to my doctor today she says it takes up to six weeks for eveything to settle down. Lets hope so, i heard some people are back to work after two weeks, no way i am still very tender.
