Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
you won’t be able to do that, window movie maker is very limited to what you can do. there are many movie editor software out there you can look up.
It IS possible. I have done it but can’t for the life of me remember how I did it. I found a solution using a Google search about 2 years ago but can’t find it now. I know that I pressed 2 keys (I think it was the Control and something else) while importing the video. But I can’t remember which key I pressed with the Control key. This brought in the video clip separately from the the audio clip so I could split and delete audio or video without deleting the entire clip. I wish I could remember what I did…..
You just put the video into Windows Movie Maker, then hold the Control button down while you drag the video down into the audio section.
Where’s the audio section?
The easiest way i found was to just save you movie/video file as a an mp3.
1. Go to where your movie file is located.
2. Rename the movie file as an mp3 file (I.E. Movie.wmv to Movie.mp3)
3. In Windows Movie Maker, click on import audio file and go to Movie.mp3
4. Import your video file, Movie.wmv, and drag it into your project first
5. Mute the sound locked with the video
6 Add the mp3 file and mess with it however you need to.
hi,
can i seperate video from audio in movie maker. If it is possible in only special software please tell me the software name.
Is there any way of doing the afore mentioned question, but just getting the video? (I want to import a video into Windows Movie Maker, which has audio, but when i drag it on the timeline, it comes up as audio. I’ve tried muting it and all i could find, but to no avail..)
I know this is an old forum stream but if anyone could help that’d be great!
I just want to be able to get rid of the audio part of the video.
(I am using Windows Vista on a Dell Laptop)
thank you in advance!

I had done it, for step no 5. you have to right mouse click at the audio and choose mute. Done. Thats it. TQ for the tips!
Well, to separate it so you can just have the video, you put in the selection of video you need, click the plus sign next to the word “Video”, right click the sound file that was attached to the video that you want to seperate, and click “Adjust Volume” and make that volume zero. ^^
Gosh, I’ve been trying to look for that answer too. But I was unsuccessful. However, I have a technique that could be useful to you…
If you want to convert your video file into audio:
1. Find your video file on your computer.
2. Copy and paste your video so that you have two copies.
3. Change the file extension of your video to .mp3
This SHOULD work as a sound file. If it doesn’t, go to www.zamzar.com and it’ll tell you what to do for easy file conversion.
Once you have your video clip, and your .mp3 sound file imported into Movie Maker:
Drag the .mp3 sound file to the audio/music part of the timeline.
Drag your video clip to the video part of the timeline.
Okay okay, I know this was useless, because after all that, the audio of the video clip STILL remains in the audio part of the timeline. BUT here’s the trick…
To mute the audio, go to Clip > Audio > Mute, or you can go to Clip > Audio > Volume to adjust the levels of the audio…
Now the sound can’t be heard from the video clip, but you’ve still got your .mp3 sound file that has the audio part of your video clip separately for you to edit.
And another surprising thing I found out about Windows Movie Maker…
On the audio/music part of the timeline, you can overlap sounds! The audios don’t need to be side-by-side, but you can overlap the sounds and you can edit them and all that jazz.
I’ll continue to search and find a way to simply remove the audio from the video clip without deleting the clip with it. But for now, I hope this helps. ^_^
is it possible to have two clips overlapping each other on windows movie maker.
i have created a movie and have imported sound clips on to it but want to put some music playing in the background. is this possible and if so how can i do so?
I am trying to seperate music attached to a vidoe file that has its own sound associated. I want to keep the sound associated with the saved movie but lose the music. I.E. I have a movie clip of a tank firing at a range, you can hear the tank firing because it was recorded with a video camera. Then someone added a song in the background so you hear the tank firing and the song playing. I want to get rid of the song and keep the sound of the tank firing. I have read and applied all of the above tips but cannot seem to break this movie apart. Can this be done in windows movie maker?
just download video mp3 extractor pro it extracts audio from the video very easily, no joke^_^, it is here in this website http://www.geovid.com/Video_mp3_Extra…
hope it helps^_^
can i separeted vedio and audio? pls give me some solution in movie maker and other progrm….
After your video clip is imported into movie maker, drag the desired clip into the audio/music section for the sound without the video.
If you want the video without the sound, get to the properites of the clip and mute that clip.
If it’s just a section of the clip, split the clip in the desired places.
Copy the video clip. Change the file extension to mp3. Import into Movie Maker as audio file using add music function. Simples.
please give a best movie making software by which i can separate video and audio
