Practical question

Is there a word for this condition: poeple that go to funerals, weddings and such and pretend to know the individual/s involved. do you know what I’m talking about? I’ve heard about this but want to know more about it. There are people that actively go through like the obituaries and show up in funerals for example…make up stories about how they know the deceased. I’m writing a play so I’d really like to research this, for a character. I really just want to know the facts: is this an acknowledged mental disorder? if so, do you know where I can read more about it?

Yes, thanks. I have seen it and it’s a great movie!

But I need like a word or something for that particular mental condition. I really want to read like scientific facts about it. like Dr. wachamacallhim thinks it’s a hormonal imbalance…all that

Hi, the Diagnostic and Stastical Manual is something I studied in psychology and it lists current opinions on what is and what isn’t a mental disorder. It is used by all typed of psychologists.
here’s link of disorders listed: http://allpsych.com/disorders/disorde…
It’s quite hard to tell what some are by name, so you might have a job finding what you’re looking for… But I suppose your task was never going to be easy! Hope this helps :)
