my mum got one of them dysons and is Very un-chuffed with it(and theyre quite expensive), but the engineer she had out to fix it one time said just get the cheepest you can as theyre all made to a decent enough standard nowadays.

so you just got a choice of cylinder or upright, if you got enough space go for an upright, or if you need to get into nooks and crannies and under things and into corners go for the cylinder with its attachments.
