ok well im a fourteen year old girl.
and all i want to be is a surgeon.
to be exact a neuro surgeon. i live in a small town. i make all A’s so i know that im smart enough and hardworking enough. im extremely active in soccer. my family want me to maybe go pro one day but i really want to help people. the only way im probably going to college is with a soccer scholarship, and the small bit of money that i have saved up. but then after that i prolly wouldn’t have enough to pay for med school. but i want to go so bad.
any advice or help on how i could do it?

Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
If you keep ur grades up there will be more than enough scholarships to go to school… You still have a ways to go stay focused and positive. The Lord helps those who help others. ;-)
You will probably be able to afford it between saved money, student loans, your parents support, and scholarships.
If your parents want you to go pro, they will support you in undergrad.
also if u r really desperate alot of major companies (ie; Starbucks) have tuition reimbustment if u work for a certain hours a week
or if u really really get desperate maybe u should even consider goiin in the army
ok. i feel almost the same way as you except i am 13. i really really want to be a dental hygenist and but the acceptance rate for that job isn’t very high. like you, i also get straight A’s and work very hard…except instead…my friends don’t except me in wanting this so bad.
in california and probably across the united states, prices are rapidly going up, i mean for a regular dinner last night for 4 people, it was like $60.
so i say to follow your heart whereever it takes you and if you want to be a neuro surgeon then but let ANYONE stop you. parents can be persuading but i know that one day you will be making the world better…one surgery at a time
and also…scholarships are fantastic if you need more money for college
I’m asking this because just yesterday my son who is 17
said there isn’t kids around who want to be ear doctor’s.
do you have any relatives who have enough money to loan
Money to you with the idea that when you do become a
neural surgeon you can easily repay them.
whoa!!! Everyone here is getting too far ahead of themselves. For a 14 year old girl joining the army or something is ridiculous. Now is not the time to seek loans either. You should research what you can get when the time comes for University or College. Come up with a game plan. Maybe start putting away money into a savings account or Savings Bonds. You could get a job part time and during the summer and start saving for your future now too. Just don’t let any job get in the way of your marks at school.
You can try your luck at online charities like Digital Charity, people may send donations if your story is convincing enough. More information at http://www.laodn.org/

It’s never too early to think about all the options. College is getting more expensive by the second. Most bonds won’t start maturing in time for her to use their face value to go to school. Besides, no one is telling her, “Definitely take out large school loans or join the army.” These are just some of the hundreds of possibilities.
So anon, think about all these options as you go through High School, but don’t make a decision until you have to.
With those kind of grades you can get any loans and grants you need. Do it. If you know exactly what you want to do you should go for it. I’m in my second year of college and i still don’t know what I want to do. Even if you have to get in debt you should go for it cause surgeons make a ton of money anyway so it would be a minor inconvenience starting out.
