homework help: I need help with my math homework. - Help.com

I need help with my math homework.

Heres the question:

concentric circles (circles that have the same center) are used to divide the circular face of a dartboard into 4 regions of equal area. if the radius of the board is 12.0 inches, what is the radius of each of the concentric circles? express your answers to the nearest tenth of an inch.

and please don’t tell me to do my own homework because i seriously don’t understand this at all.

The inner most circle has a radius of 3. The next has a radius of 6. The 3rd has a radius of 9. The total board has a radius of 12. There you go.

use the formula area of a circle = pi times the radius squared

calculate the area when r=12 inches you should get 452 square inches
divide this by four = you get 113

then using the above formula find the radius of the inner circle using 113 as the area. radius = the square root of the area(113) divided by pi = 6 inches

to find the radius of the second region double 113 to get 226
use the same formula radius = the square root of the area (226) divided by pi = 8.5

226 (total area of a circle with radius 8.5 inches) - the area of the inner circle (113) = 113 regions are the same size

to find the third region use 113 x 3 = 339
same formula raduis = the ssquare root of (the area(339)divided by pi) = 10.4 inches

problem solved you have four regions of equal area 113 square inches, in a 12 inch radius circle when you have concentric circles at 6″, 8.5″, 10.4″, and 12″

have a good one
